And you forgot to mention he still has the same flaws he's had since he came into the league.

It's not even in dispute. Belichick has specifically said he resigned because the Jets were going through an ownership change.

he ran off because he's an asshole and had a behind the scenes deal with kraft the whole time. Just because you believe his bullshit excuse doesn't mean its a fact. the guy's a notorious liar anyway but you wanna believe this lie?

He already had a deal in place with Kraft. Public statement was for media consumption and cover for Kraft.

Oh I believe he had a deal already in place with Kraft, but I also believe the reason he made the behind-the-scenes deal with Kraft was because he didn't trust either of the two new potential owners (Johnson or Dolan); and I can't blame him because Johnson would be the worst owner in NY sports history if Dolan wasn't the worst owner in the history of professional sports.

Yeah, but look at the great new wardrobe he is sporting now on ESPN. Purple suit, green tie, yellow socks, blue shirt. He is more of a clown now than when he coached the Jets!

So elite defenses are supposed to be torched by good offensive teams? Got it. If your team can only look good against the garbage of the league then the defense is struggling, last year the Bills D was holding everyone down and getting to the QB, this year they're getting lit up by offensively sound teams and averaging half the sacks. That's coaching, and that's scheme.

This is such nonsense. The Jets have been an average franchise, overall, since Johnson took over. Where does this bullshit you see everywhere about Woody being a historically inept, all-time shitty owner come from?

Bowles is a nice change of pace compared to what we had with Rex in his last few years.

Rex was a nice change of pace from Mangini.

From what I've seen with Bowles so far there is no reason to believe that he couldn't have done very well with our 09' and '10 teams. But, I believe that Rex's bluster and personality gave those jet teams that extra something to win on the road as the underdog.

I'm not sure if Bowles has that. Hey, he's only 6 games in and i can't really judge the guy yet, but we've beat the browns (bad, with backup qb playing after the first drive), colts (bad, only close wins against their shitty so far), fins (a fuckin mess internally when we played them), skins (no desean, reed, hall, culliver).

You can say the jet pat game was close, but bowles didn't call a great 4th quarter and Rex in the past has had many close games against the pats with worse jet teams.

I'm content with bowles at this point. Can't be upset about 4-2.

Let's get to thursday night against the bills and see where we are

It comes from his only caring about selling PSLs; it comes from his abandoning the Westside Stadium; it comes from his refusal to fight with the Maras over putting the roof on the new Meadowlands; it comes from his unwillingness to make obvious and necessary changes in the front office unless and until the fanbase completely and thoroughly embarrasses him.

To me, you judge owners on two primary factors:

    1) The team's overall performance

    2) His (or her) willingness to spend money (on players, coaches, and front office personnel) to make the team competitive.

On (1), Woody's Jets have been fairly average. No where near the worst and no where near the best.

On (2), he has probably been slightly above average.

I find most of the stuff you mentioned to be either trivial, subjective, or a combination of the two. And again, the notion that he is easily the second worst owner in the long, illustrious, and sometimes painful history of New York Sports is simply not supported by any objective data (i.e. wins and losses).

Yea, really couldn't agree more. I think anyone whose entire coaching tenure can be missed in the time it takes most people to go to the bathroom definitely shouldn't count.

Either that or you'd be in desperate need of a laxative..... (Damn man, I went in when Parcells was coach. WTF happened?)

Bolded is the definition of this particular poster. Underlined has yet to have any effect on his/her BS.

I lived through 20 years of Leon Hess - I know a shitty sports owner when I see one.

if you lived through 20 years of Hess and still think Woody is worse then you're a confirmed moron.

I find it hilarious that you think Woody is somehow better.
