Especially with the strike zone that shrunk when Royals were at bat and expanded when Mets were at bat.
That's about as solid of a win as we could've hoped for. Planted a little seed of doubt in the Royals minds. Cant really say a negative thing about anyone on the team tonight. You can tell Wright really wanted this win. KC was not walking out of Citi up 3-0. Part of me wants to be down about the fact that we could easily be up 2-1 right now. But in reality who knows how tonight would've turned out if we were coming in tied 1-1. Matz tomrrow. Going to be interesting to see how KC does facing their first lefty of the series.
NY letting ARod know how they really feel during the post game show, lmao. But anyway, good game from us. Now lets win tomorrow night!
it's almost as if the umps believe the Mets pitchers are so good tat it would be unfair that they have a fair strike zone.
Syndagaard just said on the podium that if they have a problem with that pitch, they can meet him on the mound, 60 feet 6 inches.....fuckin love this kid!
Royals are being BIG crybabies about the first pitch. That's baseball you fools, Escobar called it weak but their whining is what is weak. They're not handling it with any grit and I like that. Play ball.
Love it. Just giving them something to think about. "If they have a problem with it, they can meet me 60 feet 6 inches away" - Syndergaard
Royals can dish it out but they can't take it. They talk about making Murphy uncomfortable before the series. They said the same thing when they faced the Blue Jays and hit their guys, and kept pitching inside to them. They called Donaldson a baby. They said he doesn't "understand the game". I hope they understand it now. Matz really does need to dust Escobar again in his first at bat.
http://bloguin.com/theoutsidecorner/2015-articles/royals-involved-another-beanball-controversy.html Here is Volquez throwing at Donaldson's head AFTER hitting him in the first inning. Same exact pitch Noah threw. Except Noah didn't hit anyone.
With his performance, the throw and now his quote he has just gone down in Mets lore as a badass. He's up there with 75% of the 86 Mets, Pedro , Tug and Seaver. He has shot up the charts instantly as one of my favorite Mets ever and I think he's established himself as a real leader, pretty amazing for a 23 year old. Honestly I hope Matz does the same shit tomorrow. Fuck it. Noah is a fucking bulldog and his other quote that "it's my plate not their's" is seriously letting KC know he's a badass.
The Royals are acting like a bunch of high school kids, what did they expect, for the mets to just rollover for them? I lost a lot of respect for that team, after last night. Just play baseball! I'm glad Wright finally came through, if he can stay hot for the next week, the Mets have a great chance to go back to KC with a chance to close it out.
I despise them more. Brady is arguably the greatest QB of all time, that gives him the right to behave any way he wants. Thor didn't throw at his head. That pitch went over Darnaud's shoulder. It was high but not at his head. Escobar would have had to be leaning in to kiss Darnaud's neck to have gotten hit. Perhaps that was what he was hoping to do.
Its nothing compared to what Herrera did to Brett Lawrie this season. THAT is throwing at someones head without any regard for the batter's well being. And that is something that should be taken very seriously. To complain about this makes them look very hypocritical.
I just bought his jersey because of what he said. I now have him and Conforto. Paying 23$ for a fake 'authentic' jersey is amazing.
