I think it was just as obnoxious from the standpoint of the debaters. The Dems tried to play nice and the moderators pushed back hard. The Republicans have been brawling tooth and nail through each debate and the moderators just stepped it up from there. Both sets of moderators tried to take the debaters out of their comfort zone. It's just that the Republican debates have been outright nasty from the get-go.

The first R debate there was a lot of infighting, but there has been much less the last two. They were actually pretty united against the asshole moderators last night. Not much infighting at all. The only real barbs I recall were between Bush and Rubio and it was pretty mild.

Is it OK to call the moderators assholes? :)

Well they're not Ted Koppel's children, that's for sure.

    I really miss Ted Koppel.

    Me too.

Inside the back cover of this week's Time magazine ("Fusion" cover) there's a "10 questions" feature with Ted Koppel whose new book "Lights Out" focuses on the possibility of massive cyberattacks. Koppel also had a comment about the end of neutral news:

Time: At the heart of the book is the question of whether we have become so fractured to how we digest information that Congress and other institutions aren't working.
Koppel: Well, it's become more difficult because at one end of the spectrum you have MSNBC and at the other end you have Fox, and on all your radio stations you've got a variety of highly politicized talkshow hosts who make any kind of movement in the direction of moderation seem like a betrayal.

And the other night was no different. Actually, it seemed like the moderators were so disorganized themselves that they unintentionally fraternalized the debaters and set themselves up as a foil instead; kinda like a quarreling couple turning on an overzealous cop trying to handle a domestic dispute. Harwood in particular came out wearing his colors on his sleeve somewhat unprofessionally.

The GOP Debate was and always will be a circus. Fox says the winner was the Republicans an the loser was the media, but the real loser was the American people because there is no viable candidate in the Republican party.

The moderators were completely unprofessional to the point that the RNC suspended their debate partnership with NBC. I don't know, but I'm guessing that's unprecedented. The American people lose when debate moderators are too partisan to let the debate be about the policies the candidates are proposing.

You may disagree with republican policies and proposals but you're being stubborn if you think these moderators were good.

My guess is you don't even bother to listen to the other side, which is your prerogative, but I think people refusing to even listen is part of the problem in this country.

The moderators sucked. They couldn't even backup anything they were saying.

I listened to the other side. Carson outright lied about his connection to a bogus supplement company, Jeb Bush sang his own praises about how he lowered taxes in Florida with failure to mention how uneducated the youth became in Florida because of it, and Rubio bashed the Sun Sentinel. Rubio is so financially irresponsible it isn't even funny; who cares about his voting record. The guy was more concerned about buying a speed boat than paying back his debt. That's who I want as my president with this deficit.

I can't. Because none of them are. But we're talking about the Republican candidates in this thread. Nice try on the partisan rhetoric though.

I read that NY Times article and I was embarrassed for what I feel is the best newspaper in the country. The guy paid off his debt anyway who gives a rats ass what he did along the way. I found it to be an elitist criticism of Rubio especially since he's competing in a political arena filled with people who have had silver spoons up their asses their whole lives.

If he gets the Republican nomination and the Dems use that as a criticism of the guy I will be pretty pissed at my political party because that is low. Especially since they'll be putting up Hillary Clinton who's been among the elites from the get go.

that article sums up most of the American public. if a guy can't be president because of that then we have no reason to complain when the elite classes rule this country and destroy the middle class

Well Megan Kelly went after Trump in the first debate and Sean Hannity had no complaints about that. As for the one guy calling Trump's campaign comic book like. Many of the GOP
have said the same thing or worse.

The GOPers get called out on their tax plans favoring the rich during the debate and they blast CNBC for telling the world the truth...

Jeb plans costs $3 trillion in less rev..
Rubio costs $6 trillion in less rev...
Trump costs $12 trillion in less rev...

BUT (never tell us the spending cuts).

Always the media's or Obama's fault for telling the truth...No personal responsibility what so ever.
