Except Willie is intended to be annoying. It is a deliberate character dynamic that creates story conflict which succeeded if that is how you feel. You are supposed to be annoyed with her because Indie and Short Round are annoyed with her. Jar was intended to be endearing and beloved, but wasn't. He's annoying because his schtick doesn't serve any purpose to the character or story dynamic other than for kids to think he is cute and fun, and so he distracts from the actual story taking place around him rather than his characterization being part of it.
The cool thing abt that is that it was improv and they decided to keep it in the movie. It was supposed to be a sword fight scene.
The big thing is that a director has to be objective and it's hard to be objective when your pulse rises every time somebody is around you. Temple of Doom was not about the Willie Scott character and yet she is all over the place throughout the movie.
Not only do I like Last Crusade better, but it's one of my favorite movies, period. "We named the dog Indiana."
Temple of Doom was my favorite as a kid; as an adult it's flaws are more evident but it's still a great movie. I don't think I enjoy one any more than another of the original three as an adult. Even Spielberg has admitted he isn't too fond of Skulls but deferred to his good friend Georgie when it came to that movie.
