I still think we win the next 2..... if Harvey grows a spine we could win the next 3. It's disappointing to be down 2-0 especially knowing we should have won last night but the reality is they probably didn't deserve to win last night. It's not like we are going to 2 scrubs the next 2 games like many teams would. I think the Mets are still in good position to make a series out of this.
I was in a dark place from the 5th inning til about the top of the 9th. Then I realized, we can take all 3 games at home. National League baseball will suit us better and we still have the pitching. The hitters have shown me nothing to prove they can help win us 3 games, but you might as well hope for a miracle. What's the point of being totally miserable when you have at least 2 games left to play? We could easily get swept, but it would also be only slightly shocking if we could win all 3 games at home. A delusional yet hopeful fanbase is better than a defeated one. Hell, if your delusional enough it might come true!
Yes I was reading Noah's lips and he pointed to the tablet and said "fastball there". These guys are doing everything they can to get ready and prepare to take on this KC lineup. Matz noticed the camera was on them and kept looking at it lol
we can win game 3, and then it's a brand new series. I certainly am not happy to be down 0-2, but we have everything in place to be able to win the 3 at home. Will we? I don't know. but we aren't out of this series yet.
Keith Hernandez thought the Duda error in the 4th pushed Jacob too hard to finish the inning which led to an empty tank for the 5th. Said Degrom should have wasted a pitch after 0-2 to Escobar. Thought we should have walked Hosmer and pitched to Morales because of Hosmer's proven RBI ability in the postseason and because of Morales's penchant for striking out. Why can't Keith be our manager???
Honestly I think the table is set for Collins to "retire" and then Backman brought in to be our guy next year.
Because Keith doesn't actually want to work for 162 games? I mean there's some situational stuff you can nitpick but what it comes right down to is the Royals are basically the late '90's Yankees only without big names and big paychecks...they grit out every AB, they have a deep pen and their pitching staff doesn't have to strike out 9000 guys to be effective.
Still plenty of baseball left. We have THOR and Matz going the next two game. Degrom had his first bad start in a while, it'll happen to the best of them. The real wild card is Harvey. You can't call yourself an ace and immediately give up three runs after your team takes the lead in the World Series.
Terry has to put a fire into these guys. What I've liked about him was that he told players like Duda if you don't produce you don't play. Maybe change the lineup around and bench a few guys who aren't hitting (like everyone?). He left de Grom in a batter too long last night and that resulted in one run but it could have been a big difference.
How can some of you be so optimistic??? The royals are going to do the same thing they did to Harvey and Degrom. Work the count. Don't swing at bad pitches. Make him come to you. Whoever won last night is going to go back to KC up 3-2. This shit is over.
Hey, things can turn around very fast. The first game went 14 innings and the Mets looked gassed out there last night. It's not over yet by a longshot. While I wouldn't put my money on the Mets (esp after the way they played last night) they are very capable of winning 4 games in this series.
Because we are facing the back end of their rotation, at our park with no DH and what we believe is the clear pitching advantage. There is no reason to believe we can't win the next two at home and then it all resets back to our top two pitchers. Until we lose that third game nothing has really changed about how we should view our chances.
I was pretty bummed out watching that game, but had plans to drive to SW FL to see a boat that I was SUPER pumped on purchasing today. then as soon as I get home from watching the game I get a text saying the boat sold yesterday....... If there's hope for the METS, in '86 they lost game 1 by 1 run, and game 2 by 6...... both at Shea. Don't think these guys have that same killer instinct though. PROVE ME WRONG METS
We were supposed to have a clear pitching advantage in games 1 and 2. Just the way the royals work the count and are forcing our aces to go away from their game (Harvey down to 37% fballs) it just doesn't bode well for us. Cespedes and wright need to wake the fuck up.
What I don't get is how we took on Kershaw twice, Greinke twice, Arrieta, and Lester and we make Cueto look like Sandy Koufax on the biggest stage.
I am not going to allow this showing to deter from the absolute entertainment I got from our Mets the last 2 months. I am also not drinking as much scotch Friday nite as I did Game 1. _
I played poker last night and lost on a fucking flush.... seriously. What are the chances that someone else at the table has a better fucking flush than me? The odds of 2 players ending up with a flush in the same hand are about 205-1.
True. But the pitching drop off for the Royals will be greater than ours. We should be able to give our guys run support and alter the game that way. Yes, we can emotionally resign ourselves now but the disappointment is going to be equal if we lose regardless. We may as well believe otherwise until the series is clearly over. I don't think it is yet.
