This has been Wrights mantra his entire career. He has never been clutch. He either gets hits when no one is on or hits a homer when you're already up by 3 or 4. I totally agree with cespedes. The guy is fucking DUE. it's time for a game changing 3 run homer from him. He's getting impatient at the plate since everything is either down and away or up and in. He need to go with it to RF

Please Lord lift me from baseball despair and get a win tonight. Make me a believer. Praise be DeGrom, holy is his name. Also, can we get some clutch hits for Christ sake?

That's actually not true, it happened during the first part of the season, the Mets were 2 games over .500 after the break and last in runs scored, after the acquisitions of Cespedes, Uribe, and Johnson they jumped to first in the national league in runs scored, the only thing missing from the lineup while they went on a tear to win the Easter division was David Wright.

So they were a good hitting lineup with good balance. Everything started to go south once David was injected into the lineup again. They went on a couple of losing streaks at the end of the year because the chemistry and balance they had disappeared.

Cespedes is not the guy to blame here, he delivered from the moment he arrived, I bet if Wright were healthy the whole year, the Mets would not have gone after Cespedes and they would have been home a month ago.

The 2 hits David got are meaningless he is our Danny Tartabul, end of the year he has good numbers but they were never hit during a clutch situation.

This season has been a lot of fun esp since for the first time in years Mets management and ownership decided to be competitive. We have a great chance to win this thing.

Well Wright's hits last night would have had meaning if the guys behind him drove him in (and if he'd have been safe on that attempted steal of 2nd). But the Mets season esp offensively can be broken into two parts: before the July trade deadline and after. Before they couldn't put hits together and were statistically one of the worst teams offensively in MLB. After the exact opposite: among the best hitting stats in baseball. Cespedes hasn't been carrying us in post season like he did in August. Hope tonight is a different story.

We had them where we wanted them. Bottom line

However, I'm not surprised by Alex Gordon hitting the HR off of Familia. Gordon is a big time clutch player.

    Brutal loss....But that's baseball

Hopefully Jake comes up big for us tonight....

After such a special season and all the crazy things that have happened, I refuse to believe we're not going to take it all the way, even if it is against my gut. We are going to win the World Series and shock the shit out of everybody, including myself. This season has been too special for it to end short, even if only by a game. We will taste victory before the end.

For sure, we had em where we wanted!! AND LET EM OFF THE HOOK! If you wanna crown em, then crown their ass.

That's what makes it so tough to swallow.. Familia has been arguably the best closer in the baseball.

I take the blame for last nights loss. My GF asked me about how relief pitchers feel only pitching one inning here or there and I said it's their job. He's the guy to close or save the game.. He's UNHITTABLE.. Next pitch.. Homerun and the rest is history.

We are going to ride degrom into the ground tonight. Don't be surprised if you see 120 pitches from jake tonight like we did game 1 vs LAD.

Like I said earlier, we NEED to get to Cueto early. Make them go to their pen again early and often. There is a 0% chance we see Herrera tonight after throwing 35+ last night.

Now hypothetically speaking, if we are forced to go to our pen early, where do we turn? Could we see Matz in relief ? Throw colon or Matt on 3 days rest for game 4 Saturday?

We need Jake to come up big...and we need to pummel Cueto

It sucks because even after that fuckin HR I thought Niese was gonna win the game for us.

Losing in xtra innings puts you in a bad spot. A win tonight puts this series into a war of attrition....Gotta fuvkin win this game

Tonight is honestly an elimination game for us. Because think about this.. Their game 4 starter is Chris young. Who the hell knows if he can even go Saturday? I'm drawing a blank on the starter for them last night but his father died. Are they really going to ask him to pitch on 3 days rest with his father passing yesterday? You win tonight and you are GOLDEN to take 2 of 3 at home. Lose tonight and you can easily go back to KC down 3-2. We aren't winning two in a row in KC. Being up 3-2 with two shots of Harvey and Degrom in game 6/7 is gravy.

I would even go on the record to say if the mets win tonight the series is over. Just based on the future matchups and us possibly going into KC for games 6/7 with the two best pitchers on both rosters.

That kind of day for me.... I lost a game of poker tonight with a flush. I had flush 8 high and the guy who beat me had a flush king high. Are you fucking kidding me?

pretty sure collins doesn't want to go to Matz

wonder what KC does, Herrera threw a lot of pitches

and they need a Game 4 starter now, because I doubt Young goes

edit: Yost says Young will pitch on 3 days rest after throwing 53 pitches

This should have been the lineup last night. Kelly Johnson had bad numbers against Volquez and Lagares in CF with Cespedes in LF gave us our best defense. Terry doubted Lagares, and he became the only player in WS history to go 2 for 2 off the bench. Lagares catches that Escobar inside the parker and we probably win last night with this defensive group and lineup.

TC is a bad manager, the fact that he kept Wright in that 2 spot after the continued failure to keep innings alive shows me he does not have the toughness needed from a manager.

The best interest of the team needs to be put ahead of DW, he needs to be dropped in the lineup and allow the young players who do contribute a chance to make a difference in the biggest game of their careers.

TC should have no reason to doubt Lagares, he did nothing but improve this year and play his heart out in center field.

Totally on board with this. In the future I can see conforto being a terrific 2 hitter. He uses all 3 fields and has a great eye at the plate that just leaves us with GRANDY conforto and Murphy 3 in a row

I thought that Kelly was 4-14 against Volquez and had 3 bbs?

Terry has explained, more than once, that Conforto has not performed well when they've moved him up the lineup. The statistics show that

Conforto in the post season is batting .059... .059....with an OB % of .143. Wright's OB % is .348

Lagares has done well in a platoon role....the best thing about him is he adds speed. He's best at the bottom tho ahead of the top of the lineup. Terry has not doubted Lagares. He stuck with him more than any manager should've this year. Remember too: something's wrong with arm

React by not reacting. That's what you do.

I'm not a big Wright fan but you go with what got there. You put you're best players out there come what may....

I like reading stuff like that. Every time I do something good happens for them :)
