We hang are hats on that, and change ups and curves. Our guys are gonna have to be at their best. This is a good 'team', like us. Team players that scratch and claw and don't have egos to take advantage of. I followed them last year and they're gonna be tough as hell. We have to hit
I would have preferred to play Toronto; KC is the best team in the league for a reason and do everything a team needs to do to combat our pitching. This match up scares me whereas I expected to beat LA, the Cubs and would have the Blue Jays. That being said, if our starters are at their best, we win this series and in 5 or less. I believe in this team more than any team in any sport I've ever rooted for.
As for the Mets DH in game 1 vs Volquez: Kelly Johnson is lifetime 4-14 against him, all singles, 3 walks and 5ks, 2 rbis. Basically Conforto hasn't been hitting in the playoffs. But neither has Johnson.
that's what I was hoping for. not only do we need to go back to Citi 1-1, but we need to be up 2-1 going into Matz's start. This is the rotation that gives us the best shot at that at the least. Thor will win game 3 at home, and I just don't believe the Royals can beat Harvey and Degrom back to back regardless where its played.
Wow. Bittersweet memories. Been married 1 year living in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Still remember sitting in the sofa with a bunch of family and friends watching that play out. _
Those are my thoughts and they'll have to face them each twice possibly 3. If this is the rotation Thor would be slated to throw Game 7 in KC. I would imagine that Harvey would be available in relief if needed as he would be on 3 days rest. I think the only one who wouldn't be able to throw would be deGrom who would have pitched the night before. Throw in you'd have Bartolo in game 7 to throw in relief if needed as well. If the Mets pitching is on they will win the series because I do believe the Mets will score runs on the KC starters.
Word is Volquez will be starting Game 1. Havent seen much of KC this postseason but he did look good Game 1 against the Jays. Then was a little wild in the game in Toronto. Their top 3 pitchers have similar strengths and weaknesses IMO. If you wait them out (something the Mets are extremely good at doing) they can be proven to be wild and can get themselves into trouble. I wonder if KC waits to pitch Cueto until Game 3 , maybe try to rediscover some of his NL dominance because he does not seem to do well against a lineup with a DH in it.
KC still hasn't announced their G1 starter officially. No betting lines on the game as a result. Harvey vs. TBD. For the series, the Mets are a slight favorite. Going to post a vbookie event. http://forums.theganggreen.com/posts/3341486/
Volquez, Cueto, Ventura, Young We have the edge in Starting Pitching. And need to hit. I can see us hitting these guys good. But you just don't know. But we could really hit these guys
Is that the same Chris Young that fell off the mound when Citi Field opened? (I think it was Chris Young????)
I don't remember that, but that's the guy. He's 6'10" but doesn't throw hard. Gotta get to him early....he won't last more than 5 innings
It's going to rain tomorrow? I'd rather it be pushed back a day if we are going to have a stop and go weather situation. We need our starters to go deep.
Royals add a 20 year old AA prospect to their roster. Pretty clear they will be looking to run on Mets pitchers. We'll see how it plays out. I wonder how much Uribe can contribute for us with his injury
