Jerry Jones is a real funny assclown....

    http://www.ibtimes.com/amid-daily-f...ate-cowboys-owner-jerry-jones-defends-2156418

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed support Sunday for the embattled daily fantasy sports industry and defended his own stake in leading operator DraftKings. Jones’ comments came as the legality of DraftKings' and FanDuel's contests are being questioned at the federal and state level.

“From my perspective, anything that follows the rules, that causes and creates more interest and more fan participation, I’m really for,” Jones said, according to ESPN. “So I’m a supporter, and that’s the rules that we’ll test is, put your money where your mouth is.”

While the National Football League has distanced itself from the daily fantasy sports industry, 28 of its 32 teams have partnerships with either FanDuel or DraftKings. Jones and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft own unspecified equity stakes in DraftKings, and AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys’ home stadium, features a DraftKings-branded fantasy sports lounge. DraftKings and FanDuel are each valued at more than $1 billion, and both are backed by hundreds of millions of dollars in private investments.

The daily fantasy sports industry faces unprecedented scrutiny this month after a DraftKings employee accidentally leaked confidential information about an NFL fantasy contest the same week he won $350,000 while participating in a FanDuel event. The incident led the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice to open inquiries into the industry’s business model, internal safeguards against consumer fraud and overall legality. In the gambling hub of Nevada, officials formally classified daily fantasy sports as a type of gambling and banned companies from operating in the state until they obtained proper licenses.

The daily fantasy sports industry operates under a 2006 statute that exempts fantasy sports from federal bans on other forms of onlin gambling. DraftKings and FanDuel argue their contests are games of skill, not games of chance, which they say differentiates their offerings from more traditional forms of gambling.

Traditionally, pro sports leagues in the United States have opposed legalized sports betting due to concerns about how it would affect the integrity of their games. Jones said daily fantasy contests do not carry the same risk.

“I don’t think DraftKings or FanDuel in any way compromise our players on the football field because it’s all fantasy,” Jones said. “It has no bearing on the outcome of the game at all.”

    ---------------

Unless of course Las Vegas is involved, we'll promote our own form of gambling and do it in a shady way despite the fact that Vegas is and has always been legit when it comes to sports gambling.

He has to say that because he's a part owner. He's making money off all the idiots that play FanDuel and DK. The house always wins even in fantasy football. He'll change his tune when Refs and Players get these accounts and starts manipulating outcomes of games so they can make some side money.

If you are profiting...why would you get in the way? Corruption runs rampant in the NFL and America. We are not Russia corruption, but our capitalist society introduces our own brand of corruption. Tit-for-Tat politics, support my campaign, get votes for me.. I will limit regulation, tariffs and help to foster your money making operation. Big corporations killing competition, #26 Theodore Roosevelt would be ashamed.

the nfl should make teams owners and active players, basically anyone involved with these leagues sell their interest. Sorry we can't put a team in Vegas because of gambling but one of the owners basically called their business gambling

Fan Duel and Draft Kings are huge advertisers with the NFL's biggest partners--the networks and shows broadcasting games and pregame shows and post game shows.

They NFL would be turning off a big spigot for themselves.

They don't need to win. They set how much they are paying off to start with. Like I said earlier, they pocket every penny over that. So all they really need is a lot of people to play.

I play low price games on DK. This week I played a 1.25mil tourney that cost $3 per entry. Top prize is $100,000 down to $6 for finishing between 50,000th and 105,500th.

There are 479,166 entries in this tourney, so you x3 that and they collect $1,437,798, for a profit of $187,498. And this is a low price tourney. I'd imagine the ones that cost more make more money.

I'm not a big gambler so I enjoy the games, though I agree that it certainly needs to be regulated. I've been playing 4 entries per week ($12) in this tourney and am up $60 for the year going into tonight. I'm going to at least break even this week. I have Palmer on 2 teams and Fitzgerald on 1 of those and if they do decent I could win another $10 to $20.

I said they need to regulate it. I never said anyone wasn't greedy. Reading comprehension?

But it is gambling the only difference is the nfl controls this gambling. Look at who owns these two companies or are at least major share holders........That is the difference. There will always be companies offering to advertise with the nfl they could find other sponsors if they were serious about the anti gambling stance. instead tehy are not so much anti gambling they are just against gambling when they don't make a profit on it.

Courts are going to put this on books as gambling and it will be taxed and controlled like gambling. I don't care one way or the other ( I don't gamble) it just shows how two faced the nfl is really.
Nevada has already banned it in their state with NY and NJ soon to follow.

My point is they are only against gambling that they don't have a piece of.

Hypocrisy of the highest order and they aren't going to cut off their own piece of the pie.

I agree with you. th thing is when NFl owners own or are major share holders in these companies it opens the gambling piece up to be fixed. Imagine if a ref gets involved or a player. Now how can an owner be part of a business that could jeopardize the NFL side of the equation. The NFl can do business with whomever they want but the the entire NFL organization team owners, players, refs, even the groundskeepers should not be allowed to partake in the gambling

That's exactly it.... if Jerry Jones was a major shareholder in the Las Vegas Sands the NFL would have no issue with Vegas because they'd find a way to make a profit out of Vegas. As it is Vegas is one institution that makes millions off the NFL and the league gets no cut of. That's why the NFL sued casinos from having "Super Bowl " parties and instead they offer "Big game" parties or how they allow betting at the fucking stadium in London but Vegas can't even get a preseason game. My thinking on that is the league obviously has some sort of agreement with Wembley in which they get a percentage of all bets placed. Vegas doesn't need the NFL but the NFL certainly does in some ways need Vegas (and other maybe not so legal places you can bet games)

Another reason Goodell sucks ass. Other Commissioners would've nipped this in the bud early. I'm sorry but NFL involvement/owners having a piece of this unregulated gambling is shady
