While I'll agree Marshall is a big part of the 4 wins and perhaps its unfair to say he "lost us" the 2 losses, he was definitely just as big of a part of the 2 losses as he was the 4 wins. Two of the most important players on this team also happen to be long time veterans who have never even made it to the playoffs. Marshall and Fitzpatrick. I think about that sometimes.... times when Marshall has a key mistake in crunch time... times when Fitzpatrick just can't get it done unless he's playing with the lead. It might be silly but its also something to keep an eye on. Why has a long time perennial pro bowler like Marshall never even made the playoffs? Most of the time it probably was others holding him back but yesterday he had a chance to put his team on his shoulders and possibly close out a key divisional matchup for his team and he couldn't do it. With great play comes great expectations and the team counting on you. Marshall has got to deliver
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. Marshall should have made that catch, yes, but he wasn't why we lost. The entire team just didn't do enough. Between Fitz' turning the ball over, the O-Line not blocking, Ivory being out, the defense not creating any turnovers, they all chipped in. Team loss. But Marshall should have made that catch. Any WR has to make that catch. But to pin that loss on anybody, let alone him, is silly.
Yep, that was about as non-clutch a play as it gets. It wasn't even that difficult a catch to make, both defenders had overpursued and he just lacked the concentration to secure the ball. Sure, all players make mistakes, but the truly great ones don't make them in moments like that.
He's been a great addition and, overall, is probably the best WR this team has had in a long time. I'm starting to expect a big miscue from him each game, which is very frustrating, but even with that he's still been a big upgrade
It is frustrating, but he's also been a key contributor to us doubling last year's win total. I don't imagine we are a better team without him. When he is on he is terror for a vast majority of DBs to match up against and I see it as a significant challenge for Mac to replace him in the next few years. To say it briefly, he's not perfect but I'd buy the jersey.
Our offense would look pathetic without Marshall. It would be no different than 2013-2014. He bails out so many bad throws, makes plays he has no business making. We probably wouldn't be 4-2.
yeah but lets not act like its not going to have at least a different ending with the Jets taking a 24-16 lead with 10 mins left as opposed to 20-16. NE would've had to have gone for 2 when they scored the first TD. They don't get it? the Jets could be playing with a lead late. They do? the Jets are playing tied, not from behind it was a crucial drop.
If Marshall had played perfect football up to this point, we might be 6-0. But if Marshall wasn't even on the team, we could be 2-4 or 3-3. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Does he need to come through in the clutch? Yea. But he's one of the last players we should be complaining about.
The Top Ranked Jets D was torched all day by Brady. Ivory did not do much. Pryor went down and his replacement was picked on non stop. They get no blame? Marshall recovered an onside kick. Dropped a TD, had a false start to end the game, get real that he is why the team lost.
Either way, they win by 3 or they win by 2, they still win. It makes no difference at the end of the game. You can pick out a half dozen players who "lost the game". If Weatherford could kick a ball over 30 yards, if the 70 million$ defence could get a turnover... that play didn't effect the outcome, just the score.
