We started off having their defense on their heels and as usual, we go conservative and looked like we were lucky to even pick up a first down.
i understand fine. you are asking your team to execute perfectly in a situation that will be predicably chaotic. with a margin of error of like 1 second. without even considering the many preferable alternatives. that play was like a 95% chance of failure, which it inevitably was. throw it over the middle, where clearly they will tackle and then pile on and hold. not to mention you sent the outside guys deep, requiring them to sprint all the way back before we can snap it, isntead of sending everyone short keeping them close to the line horrible call. indefensible and one of the most embarassing plays weve had since buttfumble
Because normally your starting QB can actually throw the ball FORTY yards down the field without an issue. You act like it's baseball where pitchers need to warm up. It's a heave downfield.
Watching the post game Westhoff just said the Jets were out coached and the team got timid and scared in the final seven minutes. Pretty much parroting the board right now.
I feel sorry for you. You're on your way to Champ land with this outlook. No one is "laughing" at the Jets. There's nothing to laugh at from either POV. The only stupid play was the all out blitz. Other than that, the Pats made the plays they had to and we didn't. Ask Brandon Marshall how he feels bout that drop. Not even Pats Fans are laughing.. Relax, put this game behind you and get ready for another tough game in Oakland next week. We got respect from the media now.
I don't think his clock management down the stretch was that bad. He didn't call a time out because they had something like a 2nd and 3 with about 2 minutes left. He was waiting a down to use his time outs.
The Marshall dropped TD and that terrible 3th and 17 were the plays that did us in. BACK BREAKERS. The patriots are who we thought they were and we let the off the hook!!!
the situation was 95% fail regardless of the play call. typically the defense is guarding the sidelines and endzone there. that's just basic knowledge. the play call was fine. the players need to execute. apparently you'd rather throw into heavy coverage and think that's brilliant. good for you.
Did you see anyone open on the sideline? And they did get back to the ball and spike ity. Do you understand what happened?
Holy shit. Been cooking dinner. Are there dudes here really crying because we didn't put Geno in for the last pass? It can't get more pathetic than that. _
Actually, I think there a lot of QBs who can't throw a 50 yard (really 60 with the drop back) Hail mary and need to chip away first. Happens ALL the time. What doesn't happen is a sub coming in to fling the last pass. But, as others have said, the last play was about execution.
It's obvious you have no idea what anyone here is talking about. If the idea to throw the ball 20 yards down the field with no timeouts left then fine that only works when the entire offense is on the same page. You don't have Brandon Marshall or whoever else running 40 yards down the field disallowing him from re-lining up for the spike. Your moronic idea that the only other option was throwing towards the sideline is stupid. There were plenty of options and I named 2 in the post in which you have blatantly butchered reading.
It boils down to getting two shots at the Hail Mary with 10 seconds left. Two chances to score or catch a PI call. Throwing a 7 yard pass to the middle of the field with no timeouts is inevitably going to fail. Plus, those 7 yards were really the difference in Fitz being able to make it in the end zone? I think not.
I've gotten texts from a dozen friends non Jet fans. No one is laughing at the Jets. Seriously GTFO of here. _
And we'll play them again in our house next time too. Bowles should learn a lot from his first encounter with the Master. He held his own for around 3.5qtrs. We stop the 3-17 and we win this game. Marshall doesn't drop the pass and we're in OT. Since neither happened, we lost. We were 4-12 last year. Now? we have respect. On to Oakland!
What will happen first: the Jets get an actual edge rusher or the Jets get a franchise quarterback? This team needs at least one or both to go to the next level. I'm sick of the pretty defensive stats. We can't get to the quarterback when it matters and it's been that way for over a decade.
