The Jets are expected to sign former Giants P Steve Weatherford for tomorrow's game, per @AdamSchefter. #nyj https://t.co/15XgeNc4uy
Weatherford was an underlooked piece to those 09-10 runs, he was extremely key in putting that defense in great position and pinning the opposing team behind the 20...if they sign him i will be more than thrilled
“It’s been a dream come true,” Weatherford said of playing for the Giants. “I enjoyed playing for Rex Ryan but the special teams coach [Mike Westhoff] was very difficult to get along with both on and off the field. Here, the Giants have treated me great since the moment I walked in here. I show up early and leave late and give everything I have. I think the Giants have an appreciation for that. I absolutely love being here. I’d play for free.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...herford-rips-ex-jets-assistant-mike-westhoff/
"That's not where Weatherford was Thursday night against the Patriots, putting his kicks closer to the middle of the field than the sideline. He finished the preseason with an average net of 45.0 yards on 16 punts. Weatherford also had other numbers going against him. According to NFLPA records, his base salary was scheduled to be $2.175 million for 2015 and $2.325 million for 2016. He had the sixth-highest cap number of any punter in the league this season at $3.075 million. Wing, who is 24, is due to make $540,000 this season." http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...giants-tom-coughlin-gets-emotional-1.10808793
