It's official. New York Mets vs Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

Royal contact hitting, defense, speed, bullpen this is going to be tough. #LGM

M thoughts exactly. Mets pitching depends on the K and the Royals strikeout the least of any team in the majors. They won't make errors like the Cubs did that we capitalized on. They WILL run on our starters and we've yet to prove we can score late in games, because we haven't needed to. I'm terrified of Reed and Clippard having to come in a game early. Our starters may need to give us 7 more than not.

Allright I am really superstitious so I don't want to do it unless the other Met fans are onboard but should we start a Mets World Series Thread or leave posts in here?

Personally, I'm not superstitious, I believe the Royals are a better all around team then the Mets and their back to back World Series appearances prove it.

So I recommend that you close this one down and start a Mets World Series thread, I think it's the appropriate thing to do.

I REALLY think the METS matched up better with the BJs....... not just on the field, but KC also has the WS experience factor. They'll have to earn this one.

    LETS GO METS

Looks like its a FB war with my in-laws and wifey! This is gonna be fun. I was explaining to wifey that we match up better against the BJ's because they don't take a lot of pitches and primarily are a fastball hitting team like the Cubs. The Royals will test us as they have one thing going for them that we don't. That is, they were just in the WS last year and knows what it takes to win.

KC is probably a better over all team than the Jays. And they have the experience of being in a WS last season. The one reason playing Toronto would have been tough is that they have more power. Both teams hit .269 for 2015 but the Jays had 232 Hrs compared to 139 for KC. I think with our young power pitchers that could have been significant. Even though the Mets gave up 152 Hrs in 2015 which was 8th best in MLB.

It is going to be one tightly contested World Series I think...The Mets team will have to continue to play unconventional small ball and hit around the park. They pretty much need Duda also to get in a rhythm with Cespesdes...The Mets pitching overall can contain the Royals, but the bullpen will need to be on their A game. That is where the Royals thrive.

I'll be missing most of the series as I will be on an Island...It sucks because I had tickets to Game 3 via work.

    Best of luck Mets fans!

I think the Royals are better than the Mets. Really been fun watching them the last two seasons. They couldn't finish the job against the Giants, but I think they can do it this year. Although you could argue this Mets team is better than last year's Giants team was. You could also argue this Royals team is better than last year's Royals team. I think it will be a good World Series and go 6 or 7.

Heard a stat yesterday that the Royals have the highest batting average against fastballs at or above 94 mph.

I wonder what that is from fastballs 94-96 because 97+ is absolute cheddar and there is a big difference. If you blink twice as fast you can.. That's the reaction time you have from the mound to home plate on a 100 mph fastball.

No it's just a stat. I think the Cubs batting average against pitches of 94 mph and above was .220. I don't know if that was good or bad. And of the 310 fastballs we threw against the Dodgers, something like 270 were at or above 94 mph.

The Royals have the highest BA against fastballs of 94 mph and above. I don't think they get into metrics as to the differences between 95 and 97 and 99.

I think it just means of all the teams we were going to face, the Royals are the best high octane fastball hitting team.

Doesn't mean that they'll pound it, just that they are the best at it. They might only hit .235 against it, don't know.

Damn. I wish you knew. Regardless, what makes these guys so good is their secondary pitches. Throwing 97 and having a slider that's about 90 or 91 and comes out just like your fastball is disgusting. This is why I think what degrom did his past few starts was tremendous. He had no secondary pitch. He had no 'out' pitch as some call it. He just battled every single at bat.

Since the royals always put the ball in play I wonder if we are going to see a lot of lagares in CF with cespedes in left and conforto DH in the first two games. We mustttttttt score off their starters because their Pen is nasty

This is the part that scares me, they don't swing for the fences every at bat, they focus on using the whole field, that's a very dangerous team, it's how the Giants have won in the playoffs the last couple of years.

It's what I wanted the mets to be, unfortunately the way the mets hitters, exception Murphy, left men on base against the Cubs, it scares me that they will do the same against Cueto and Ventura, when Wright, Duda, Cespedes come to bat, with men on base.

    Let's go mets

You figure Lagares for defense with Conforto as DH.

And Conforto hasn't been bad in the OF.

Cuddyear is going to see very few at bats. Especially if Uribe makes the roster.
