There are one or two that might be worth a top 10, but they'll never get anywhere the jets can sniff it. unless they tank the rest of the season, and the only way that could happen is if Revis and Ivory both were lost for the season (knock on wood).
There isn't a QB in college today I view anywhere near as good as Mariota, Winston, Teddy or Carr. This looks like 2013 all over again. Not a guy worthy of a 2nd, much less a top 10. A bunch of jags. _
It would be unfortunate. This draft, I see it strong at linebacker and offensive line - 2 positions the Jets will need to improve on. No elite QB prospects for a while - 2014 was good, might be a while before we see a can't miss prospect. Rosen and Kaaya down the road.
No can't miss QB's in this draft, but there are a few that are very worth mid round shots at, and one or two that do deserve 1st round grades probably when all is said and done. But no can't miss
Out of all the "top guys" Goff was the only one that impressed me, so I took a look around the scouting boards and saw that Lynch and Carson Wentz are flying up boards. I remember guys like Carr who had similar ascensions and became early day 2 picks so I'm gonna take a look at both of them to see if the Jets can't snag one towards the end of the first (where they'll probably be picking). I'd love a Carr or Bridgewater type. I haven't watched Wentz yet, but I watched all the Lynch videos on draft breakdown. He's way more impressive than Hack or Jones at this point. The thing I love most about him is his ability to throw with touch. Most times when you see a huge QB with a big arm (Mettenberger, Glennon, or even Kaep) they fall in love with their arm and only throw fastballs. Lynch looks like he has the ability to thread the ball between linebackers and safeties, which is awesome for a college QB to already have. I've always thought that the best indicator for pro success in college quarterbacks is pocket maneuverability, because it entails so many other traits (footwork, feel for the rush, ability to extend the play, awareness). Lynch is much better than most 6' 7" statue QBs who don't leave their mark ever. He has some nice subtle movements in the pocket to evade the rush and buy time for receivers to get open. The one thing I'd like to see more is him running to throw instead of to run. He's an unbelievable athlete for being 6' 7" but I'm not sure his scrambling success will translate with a neat correlation. He seems to sometimes be one read then tuck and run, where I'd rather see him get outside the pocket and moving laterally to the line of scrimmage with his eyes downfield still looking to throw. However, when he's in the pocket he looks good at going through a progression, resetting his feet and making the throw. He has some pretty awesome arm talent. There are more than a few "wow" throws on those tapes. He's especially good at hitting his receivers perfectly in stride (and I mean perfectly) on both slant routes and sideline go routes (whether on a rope or with touch). That's a throw that Petty was asked to make a lot last season but often struggled with. Lynch's accuracy on those 2 routes is Rodgers-esque. He's by no means a polished prospect but there are plenty of traits to work with and I can see the hype/ascension up the board. He'd make for an intriguing pick at the end of the first, though I don't know if he can start immediately. So much better than the other "top QBs" (Jones, Hack, Kessler), though. I'll see what I think of Wentz later today. These 2 might give hope for the 2016 class outside of Goff like Carr and Garropollo wound up doing in 2014.
I've seen some people crush him, don't get it. Wasn't an amazing performance, but it was solid especially when you consider the circumstances and how terrible that OL is. I hope he comes out and falls to late round one (whcih seems very possible ). I'd be very happy with him; has his flaws, but very good pocket presence, generally very accurate, and poised.
I'm thinking Goff is going to fall in the draft, if he comes out. I'm almost certain Hackenberg, Cook, or Lynch who I haven't watched yet, goes before him.
I doubt it, Goff should be the first QB selected bar none. I can't see any other QBs taking over that position right now. Cal has a really bad offensive line, just below average ...
Wow, Memphis is playing tonight? That's cool, I was watching lynch a bunch this morning. It'll be cool to watch him live, nice coincidence.
Should be, but guys with his physical skillset don't seem to go early. Average arm, skinny frame, doesn't have elite tools team crave for. He's not as good as Teddy, but he's going to get that kind of treatment, along with the system concerns . Last night showed us how much Goff really elevates the talent around him. If he isn't lights out, Cal has no shot. It would be pretty nice to go on a deep playoff run and come out of the draft with a solid QB prospect at 25 or so.
Twitter is raving about Lynch tonight. With how bad the other "top QB's" are playing and with how great Memphis is playing Lynch's status could continue to skyrocket.
yeah i'm not writing him off or anything. he's still a very intriguing prospect. was just a bit of a tough nite for him, and the team in general. that won't help his draft stock..
It's good that Cal is losing these games. Could mean that he falls a bit and we can trade up to get him without giving up much.
I think this year it Goff or death at QB...... All the other QB's have serious question marks about them.....
