While this is not a top 5 defense or anything like that, of all the teams you have faced, NE's defense is 2nd in PPG and 3rd in yards/game allowed. Most of the yardage and points have been accumulated in garbage time. 40 of the 103 points allowed have come after NE reached 99% win probability. They're also averaging 3.8 sacks per game. Going by defensive DVOA rankings, NE's D ranks 8th. Only Philly's ranks higher (from the teams you have played.) And obviously NE is a much more complete team than Philly.
A defense doesn't need to be great if the offense can basically score at will. The Pats D is more than adequate. It's not like they've never seen a QB of Fitz' caliber. People who think the Jets are just going to roll them are deluded. What will be interesting to me is whether the Jets will be disciplined enough to stick with Ivory on the ground if they fall down be a couple of scores early. I think they will.
I don't think Edelman would be rattled. He came up with a clutch reception on 3rd and 14 while taking a thunderous hit from the hardest hitting safety in the league in SB49.

To be clear, is this a total geno moratorium in the game thread or is bashing him ok just no defending him? Example: fitz audibles in to a quick pass after seeing a blitz coming. Is genohater86 allowed to say"dumbass geno wouldn't have done that" Because that could bait genolover123 to chime in about genos potential and that could be considered trolling. Just want to know where the lines are drawn. Hate to see someone run afoul for not knowing the rules
Because of the scenario you just created, I'm afraid it has to be a Geno Free Zone in the game threads UNLESS Geno is on the field. This way, everything is clear to everybody. This is also why I'm bringing this up in advance to get people to understand that the game thread is exclusively for the game and not to be used as a forum for why Geno should or should not play. There will be a Geno Gameday Thread for that purpose. Folks can take their cyber-debate over Geno there but it needs to be left there. First a warning will be given. Then the post will be deleted if that poster continues. Finally, a day off will be in the offing. Nothing draconian. This is pretty easy to digest isn't it? You want to share the experience of the game? Please join us in the game thread. You want to pimp or bash Geno Smith? go to the Geno GameDay Thread and have at it. People were getting tired of it taking away from the gameday thread week in and week out. It had to be stopped. I'd like to think our Posters would give some consideration to everybody and put their individual biases aside. This is the biggest game of the year so far and I'm hopeful it will be enjoyable for everybody who is a Jet Fan First.
