Ok, nobody has addressed the Elephant in the room.

Cespedes playing golf yesterday, then going out with a shoulder strain.

He'll have 5 days to heal. If that's his way of relieving the tension, let him tee up.

The break works for deGROM, and Harvey, imo. When Jake got a break in Sep't he came out firing his next start at the top of his game. He needs the break. It also allows Harvey to go all out in this series. Noah is just a stud either way

I hate the Dome and Toronto, but I think KC will be tougher. I want cold weather in our house, and in KC. Our pitching gets the edge then

It's a drag switching over to Joe Schmuck on Fox 5

Here's some food for thought. Suppose we move Niese permanently from the starting rotation into the BP. Make him our lefty long relief guy. Same with EL Gordo for middle relief. Both would be better than the driftwood we had doing those jobs during the season. That way, when Wheeler comes back next year, we'll be dominant 1 thru 5.

    That's an interesting one.

Lotta thought will go into it.

Who do they want to start a Game 7? Prolly comes down to that, no?

How do they want to use the whole staff if the series is long? How do they project the pitching line up in a game 7 with all hands on deck?

    That's the thing--I think Game 7 becomes a committee.

I think Harvey will demand the ball game 1 and I don't think deGrom will, and I think Collins will accede. Plus I think deGrom needs the extra day to get his stuff back and Harvey has been sitting around for a while. He was the next guy up for game 5 Cubbies if needed. Makes sense to keep him up next--plus he could set a nasty tone in the visitor's ball park.

If they go Harvey (1) Degrom (2) Synergaard (3) Harvey (4) deGrom (5) and Syndergaard (6) -- in game 7 you could start Matz and have Harvey and deGrom and Bartolo and Niese for an inning a piece.

You're not going to pay Niese $9 million next year (with $10 and $11 million option years after that) to be a middle reliever. He'll likely be a placeholder for Wheeler as the #5 next year (or the #4 with Matz being the #5, whatever) and when Wheeler comes back then they'll have to make a decision on what to do with Niese assuming all the other pitchers are still healthy at that point.

And I love love love Big Bart but assuming he doesn't retire he's gonna want to be a starter for one more year, not a full-time reliever.

Its such a tough choice because of the Matz factor. I wonder if the team wants to go with him in a Game 4. What if we're down 2-1 heading into that game? Would we not want deGrom on the mound there and then back for a potential Game 7?

I know its asking a lot to think that he could start 3 potential games in the next series but there is enough of a layoff between them that deGrom shouldnt be so taxed to where he becomes a liability. But I agree with Stokes that if there is a Game 7 , its all hands on deck.

IDK. Can't wait to find out. The rest is big for Jake. But the rest will be adequate as it is.

Harvey in Game 1 keeps him sharp tho...That might be the key.....and an extra day for Jake might not be a bad thing.

But would Harvey even be available game 7? Where Jake prolly would be

You know one thing, their gonna analyze the shit outta this, and the whole staff top to bottom

The 'bridge' with Clip scares me tho.

    Lot to look at

It won't hurt to break the lumber out here. We can hit with both teams

    I think you 're right.

I just looked at the schedule for the first time.

And I think Matz will start Game 4

Just ride it right at 'em...

Sidenote: Good call on Harvey, and all the peripheral bullshit also. Just the press stirring shit up...

Including the Matt/Noah stuff...Which I bit on

TC has a great clubhouse. Nothing goes bad in his clubhouse. Everything is open and this is a great 'team'

I have the opportunity to go to all 3 World Series games at Citi Field this year...Because of my work. Sucks, it would be great to see the fans who are vying for this moment.

I am not a Mets fan again, die hard loyal Yanks fan...But I LOVE teams that win with youth, pitching, timely hitting game, with a few players that are a strong nucleus.

Right now all the pieces are there...I don't believe in the "Too long break" with this Mets team. I think they need to get back home, heal up and then jump into it.

Royals vs Mets is a more intense matchup...Blue Jays vs Mets is the sexy matchup, this one really favors the Mets I think because to me over-powering pitching will always win out over over-powering hitting...At least in a strong of games.

I 100% believe Mets have guys who can become the Ace of the team's staffs...Its very Athletics 01, recent Giants, 90's Yankees like

I'm just going to shoot the breeze and speculate a little bit. And just give a few pieces of a puzzle that seem to fit right now. OK the Dodgers let go of Mattingly. They have deep pockets and are willing to spend money and have the biggest payroll in MLB. They have a new GM Andrew Friedman who used to be in charge of the Rays. He has a relationship with Joe Maddon and would maybe like to get a manager similar to him but Maddon isn't available. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports...llins__Cubs__Joe_Maddon_meet_as_managers.html He was a protege of Terry Collins and was on his staff and interim manager of the Angels after Terry was fired. Terry has a past history with the Dodgers and spent many years in their organization. And his contract expires at the end of this season. If offered a great deal with the Dodgers would he take the money if they grossly out bid the Mets. He would then not have to deal anymore with the Wilpons and the kind of salary structure he's had to work within.

The Mets have the club option on Terry's contract for 2016.

He has no ability to go to the Dodgers if they don't want him to.

    Game 1 - deGrom

    Game 2 - Noah

    Game 3 - Harvey

Sets up nicely no matter how the first 2 games unfold.

BTW I think the long layoff is affecting me much more than its going to affect any of the players.

Tuesday night seems like a lifetime away.

My guess is we'll let it play out and then make a determination. This team isn't content as simply a participant in the Series and Matz failed to seal 5 innings against the Cubbies with a 6 run lead
