I don't like playing games, but the @NYJets twitter account needs to counter this with a Sanchez celebrating after eliminating the Patriots in Foxborough in 2011 after the 28-21 playoff win.

Tebots had their own forum. Sanchez and McElroy really didn't have the following and there were a few Simms fans (I was one of them) but we didn't pollute game threads like Genobots do here. We absolutely cracked down on Tebots and we'll crack down on Genobots too. There's really not that much difference between the two.

Geno guys will have your own thread to post in on gameday but you will not be allowed to derail the gameday threads anymore. Pimp Geno in the Geno threads and leave the gameday thread to the game itself.

If you remember, we also cracked down on posters turning every thread into a Sanchez thread or nowadays, a Ryan thread. Those days are over. People go to the gameday thread to post and share the gameday experience. There are other more appropiate places to discuss Geno and/or Rex.

Lastly, I haven't banned anyone YET. I fully expect Genobots to give the rest of us a break and pimp Geno in the many Geno threads that already exist in addition to the new Geno Gameday Thread. If and when Geno starts again, different story. Until then, to quote Mr. Spock: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.."

That's just the classy Patriots being buttoned up and professional.

The Geno Gameday Thread should be a fun social experiment to observe - probably very similar to the Tebow forum.

Look at how you are wording certain things, that in itself is telling. I've been here since 2011 and when the starting qb is playing poorly posters ALWAYS bring up the backup in game threads, that's just how it was/is. Your dislike of Geno is clouding your judgement on this one. And Sanchez didn't have a following? I find that to be not true, and even when Tebow had his own forum people still brought him up in game threads when the starter was playing poorly.

Well, I'm not nor have I ever been a Geno Fan. However, this isn't being done on a whim. I've gotten too many complaints about Genobots pimping their guy and trying to derail the gameday thread. People are tired of it because they want to watch and post about the game. Every game is not a referendum on whether Geno should be playing or not.

Sanchez had his fans, but they did stop hijacking every thread. Once his shoulder injury happened, that was it. The Sanchez fans accepted what happened and moved on. Genobots have not. Hell, even Rex guys have moved on. Time for Geno guys to do the same until things change.

Besides, I don't see the problem. You will have your own thread on gameday. The rest of us can enjoy and post about the game on the field without having to put up with "If Geno were in, ...."

Its borderline trolling and starting Sunday, its over. If Geno gets in the game, entirely different situation.

Have I just missed all the Geno-botisms? I don't seem to recall a lot of hopes for the failure of Fitzpatrick being posted.

I thought we were all pretty much in agreement that regardless of the circumstances behind his starting we were rolling with Fitz till the wheels fell off, Geno be damned?

That's the generally prevailing sentiment. But some people just cannot brook any complaints regarding Fitz' obvious flaws. So they tilt at these inflated windmills of their own imagining -- that people are rooting for the Jets to lose so we can see what Geno can do.

Sanchez never developed and is riding the pines in Philly. Tebow and McElroni (esp. Tebow) did not have NFL arms.

Simms had his one "Brett Ratliff-to-David Clowney" moment scrambling and hitting the since released Ryan Spadola against the NYG in a pre-season game:

Mike Vick? Just lost his backup job with the Steelers.

Which leaves us with Geno, who sucks donkey dick.

    What's the problem here?

While I'm on the subject, I think this might be good for Smith overall, he's always been a guy that needed time on the bench to learn and now he's got it. Fitzpatrick is a great veteran presence, Geno could stand to learn from his demeanor and pocket presence now that the spotlights off.

I say this as a guy that had Smith pegged as my preferred starter in august. And I am curious to actually see him in action in this offense live just to know if his supposed quality offseason was as advertised, even though I don't actively WANT him to start because it means somethings gone wrong for the team as a whole. A blowout where we can rest the beard is the preferred method of getting Geno evaluative time.

that all said, go Jets and go Jet QB's in general right? Fitz is starter, back to the crucial divisional game...

And if the comms go out Fitzpatrick is a great person to have on the field calling Chan Gailey's offense. With anybody else there's going to be a timeout, with Fitzpatrick he probably just calls what he thinks the situation calls for given his long experience in the offense.

Here's the thing, the Jets are WINNING right now and FITZPATRICK is part of the WINNING process. He's not perfect by any means but we're WINNING and he's throwing TD passes in the process and not killing us with turnovers or endless stalled drives.

    That's why it's different.

It's just annoying as hell to be in the middle of another WINNING game and have to listen to a few people carp about how the Jets would be better if Geno was in the game. First of all, that's not true. He might be better but most of the evidence so far suggests he'd be worse. Second of all we're WINNING. We're WINNING.

The backup QB is supposed to be invisible when you're WINNING.

It would be nice if all the people who want to see Geno play would suppress that thought as long as we're WINNING.

Hence the "Geno Smith Gameday Thread".... They can complain to their heart's content without subjecting the rest of us to it. Geno fans can get together and compare notes all game long. The rest of us will simply enjoy the wins and when they come, deal with the losses without the Geno drama in the gameday thread.

Someone would have to be pretty thin skinned to get a rise from that. It's a rivalry!

It's throwback Thursday... that's what team sites do. I would expect the Jets to post a few moments they got the best of the Pats.

The good news for Jets fans is that the Colts "fake punt" will always be #1 on the hit parade from now on.

    1985,

There is a difference between a troll and a contrarian. You can be a contrarian, which is acceptable imo. But you should also be able to understand the concept of thread derailment.

I have been here awhile now, too. I had concerns about Sanchez even when the team was winning. Perhaps not coincidentally, though, the Jets had limited options in those years. Concededly they were discussed, but not to the extent Smith Fans here complain even when the Jets have won the game.

We all like bright lines, and easy decisions. But sometimes you have gray areas. At some point differences in degree cross over into qualitative differences, where you are in a different category. I think that is what cmman is describing.
