I'll give you that he could also be Jamarcus Russell. Just because he looks/plays sort of like those guys, doesn't mean he is those guys.

I just have no faith in Mariota or Jameis, but that doesn't mean I'd take Cardale at the same value. I should have clarified that I think the "buy low" value on Cardale would be worth it because if developed correctly I see much more potential from him than the other 2 big names. He would be a project that I'd take in the 3rd and consider in the 2nd, and would need a few years on the bench. He does need more development (by his own admission), but why not let him get it at the NFL level if that's the way the ball bounces?

It'd be interesting to see where he transfers (he most likely will since he won't start next year) and if Ohio St lets him. I'm definitely gonna follow this kid and see how he does lol

I am pretty sure if he transfers, due to NCAA rules, he would have to sit out a year.
He would only be able to play if he went to a Division II school or lower.

So if he stays at Ohio State, he will mostly likely be on the bench.

He is not NFL ready, but staying in school would require 2 more years because whatever he does, he will not be on the field next year.
If he would declare, I can see a team who would not be in need of a QB for a few years taking him in round 4 or 5 to develop him.

Not for nothing, but Cardale Jones just tweeted "Life changing decision at 3pm"

I'm throwing this out there right now. If Jones declares for the draft he immediately moves into #3 QB for me. Immediately. What he did in those final 3 games against Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon (oh and in the biggest games of the year) was so impressive, that I just cannot put any of the other QB's ahead of him. This may be a blessing in disguise as this years QB group was so bad and we are not likely to get either of the top 2 guys.

It's still only 3 games, but man, he did look good in them.

Can't believe the guy went back to school. There's no way he beats out Barrett. Hopefully Miller is gone because if Jones stays, he'll at least get his RS Senior year starting. I'm sure Barrett will declare next year. I don't see a better prospect.

I disagree. This kid performed well in three straight championship games. If you take him and Coach Meyer at their word, all three will compete to be the starter next year. It's the other two guys that should be seriously considering transferring if they want to play.

I think he made a mistake going back - should have struck while the iron was hot he is unlikely to get that kind of sizzle again - I bet some team would have taken a chance in the third round and maybe even higher if he had a good showing between now and the draft.

S/o to the ESPN, NFLN, and so on "experts" who said he should have been drafted as high as the 2nd round last year based on three games.

Cardale Jones was never a high pick. He was a guy who looked good for a few games under pressure. In this overblown overhyped media environment you're going to get over-reactions like the one surrounding OSU's title run all the time.

Amazing. He simply just isn't good. The fact he had a press conference to announce he was coming back as possibly the 3rd string QB is still unbelievable.

jeez...stop living in disneyland, we are not drafting a qb high..that only happens when you lose all but a few games and we have already won more than that..of course we might find somebody with two first round picks we could trade wilkerson for before the deadline and then copuple those with ours to move up high enough to grab one but i don't see that happening either.

Remember when the packers had favre but spent the 26th overall pjck on a qb anyway? I bet there were fabs saying something to this effect then too. We have fitz. He is not going to keep us from looking at qb, couple that with the lack of great top of the draft prospects and i would not be so definitive about not taking a qb

He should've took his chances after last year and his 6 starts or so. His stock wasn't going to get much higher when you got a vertical threat like Devin Smith catching those deep passes down the field.

The QB pool is pretty bad at this juncture - Jets still need to find a long-term answer
