I think we should wait until we figure out our D line contract situation. Wilks, Richardson or Williams (1 of the 3) will probably end up being moved or traded for salary cap reasons. If this happens, Coples might have value again. I always thought he played better on the inside. Maybe they could trade Richardson to get a good play making TE or a few players and move Coples back inside.

Well anyways I wouldn't be so fast to get rid of Coples. Esp now that his value is down. And we could end up losing Wilk in the future. But if Bowles evaluation of him is that he's not going to make it in his scheme. And he's not going to use him. Then get whatever you can for him.

Yep but at this point no way we carry over his 7 million cap number even after Snacks isn't brought back I don't know if we'll get to see the 4 first rounders round out the line.

In most situations Mingo is what he is. With the Jets and their heavy interior he might be a breaking element from the edge against a lot of offenses. If they account for him he's going to be nothing but that's a player that isn't helping out on the heavies inside and so something has to give. In theory.

Really the Jets are probably just better off having a nickelback on the field in that situation and blitzing him from the slot.

    I'd trade him for Gholston.

he could be. he's too big to play OLB though. he's listed at 290 which is great for a 3-4 DE but too big for a 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE. In short he doesn't fit our system. he isn't a bad player, he's just a square peg that we tried to force into a round hole. plus we have richardson, snacks, wilkerson, and williams on the d-line right now.

If we can get a second round pick are you down to take the road trip with me to drive him to where ever we trade him? I'll take the week off from work if you will.

Then keep him. I don't think he's a bum. I wouldn't give him up cheap.

He belongs at 3T in a 4-3. That's the position he actually dominated at in college. Give him guards to beat on all day long.

It's hard to say whether or not he can play 3-4 DE or 4-3 strongside DE. That's probably all scheme dependent and Rex's scheme of putting mountains across the front is one that he was not fitted for except at OLB where he was another mountain. He's not fast enough to do that in most schemes and he's not the mad dog that a LB must be to thrive in any scheme.

Yeah, I went over all his sacks a while ago and I noticed he always played DT or DE whenever he was able to do some damage even though his actual position was OLB. So that says a lot. As a LB he didn't do anything. He had back to back sacks last season against the Dolphins playing DT, putting spin moves on guys. He's a natural DT. He doesn't even have to add any weight really.

Another banner day for QC. 24 snaps (36%) vs an offense that ran the ball 5 times. Certainly running out of excuses as to why this guy doesnt get on the field.
Especially for someone taken 16TH %&#@$ OVERALL IN AN NFL DRAFT!!!!!!

Who regrets taking Quinton Coples over,...........................ANYONE???????????? ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
%&#@$ YOU REX AND YOUR %&#@$ RIDICULOUS PERSONAL PROMISES!!

I was not one that thought that Coples sucked...I am officially now a member though.

What the heck happened to this guy? He is slow as molasses. He got a lot slower...if that is even possible...no impact plays from this guy ever...why is he starting. Get Mauldin in there.

I tried really hard to keep an open mind about him and giving him the benefit of the doubt. No way I can do that any more, no matter how much you root for him, it's just not there with him anymore.

Maybe if he loses some weight he can be a little explosive, and I mean like firecracker explosive. Other than that he just does not produce.

Outside of Harris, our linebackers aren't really the '00 Ravens. We need to spend a couple of draft picks to fix this. Coples was supposed to be that hypothetical edge rusher and never amounted to jack shit. How many players like that have we drafted? It's the equivalent of taking a powerful high school arm that blows out.

I never understood Coples as a first rounder. Given, Tanny and Rex took Coples and traded up for Stephen Hill that year. The year before if Coples had declared he was graded as a 4th-5th rounder. And that's exactly what he is, if not a 7th-UDFA. You would think the guy would try harder considering its a make or break year for him, but I guess he's content.

    Amazing how we've gotten practically nothing from 2012 #1 Quinton Coples, 2012 #2 Stephen Hill & 2013 #1 Dee Milliner (9th overall).

Everybody hating on QC when ain't nobody really putting up numbers this year and, Coples getting limited snaps. And he playing outta position. Why on earth is Snacks Harrison getting on the field so much when Todd Bowles KNEW the Pats weren't trying to run the ball?

its not really that amazing they were terrible choices...Coples had a low motor we knew that...Hill came from an offense that throws the ball three times a game...Millner is injury prone and was surrounded by a ton of talent on that Bama defense

Can't blame Coples really. He's playing out of position and he's getting 10-20 snaps per game, there's nothing he can do with that.
