I prefer Bowles' style more now, so nope. I do like Rex, and hope he finds success with the Bills though.

The bills biggest problem this year under Rex is DISCIPLINE/PENALTIES. The Bills got assessed a critical penalty today against a player who made the tackle and then got in the Bengal player's face--15 yards against ya Rex. The Bills led the Pats 7-0 this year and then stopped them and forced a punt. Long bill punt return called back because of penalty which turned the game around. The Bills committed several more penalties that game and totally fell apart. Rex has always had the same problem--DISCIPLINE! I remember when jet Kyle wilson was called for defensive holding when he held a raven receiver on 3rd and 29 about 5 yards from the line of scrimmage--automatic first down. Were I the coach, Wilson would have sat out a long long time for such a huge mental blunder--Rex shrugged it off.

    Rex was never our GM.

Like Tyson said, you could divide him into Pre- and post- tattoo.

ill always have a soft spot for Rex. I liked his bravado and will to win. Yes he was over the top on lots of occasions but it was better than the powder puff HC's we have had the last 20 years. He was the best since Parcells. He is also our second most successful head coach. So he also deserves some respect. He made our defence nasty. And last year our GM Fudged him over with the personnel he gave him to work with. Im gutted he stayed in the division. I would wish him success but as he is at the Bills I root for him to lose.

take a look at rex's numbers through 5 weeks with the jets when he first got here. they were elite.

rex has his flaws, but when he had the talent here he had top 3 defenses and went to AFC championship games.

it was never about rex here it was always about ownership/GM. rex is a good coach. bowles is a good coach. when you win everyone is happy, when you lose thats when stuff gets ugly.

rex is touted for being a light spirited players coach, but when you lose its "he has no control over his undisciplined team"

then you have your tough guys, when they win its cause they runa tight ship, when they lose its because the players tuned out his yelling.

it all comes down to getting your team motivated to play, prepared, and executing the gameplan. rexs teams did that for the most part, eventually the talent fell off and his welcome wore thin.

the bills are 3-3. they lost to the pats(5-0), bengals(6-0), and giants (3-2).

id hardly say they have been a disaster.

nah, I don't miss Rex at all, his inability to improve as a HC is his down-fall.

Not to mention some those players had to take snowmobiles to the airport to beat the shit out of a Rex coached team...

    Who?

Oh..the coach who handed out the "Yes, Sir!" wristbands to his players...and they drew a flag on the first snap the very next game.

    What a motivator.

They're getting ready to run him out of Buffalo already.

I'll pine for Rex when he starts to learn from his previous mistakes.

I think I'll be waiting a long time.

Bowles is guiding the defense to the league-leading performance. What's gone unnoticed is that he's also leading the offense into respectability. Believe it or not, Jets O is a top-10 offense as of right now. Their per-game yardage says it is. Their per-game scoring average says it is. [Jets offense is sitting comfortably at #8, after 3x Folk FG misses. If he connects any of the 3, Jets jumps to #7.]

Even during the good years under Ryan's guidance, Jets offense never cracked top 10, Sanchez or not. Actually, that is also on Fatty Rex - Sanchez was HIS pick. [Schottenheimer was an epic disaster, I agree. So was Sparano. Morningwood was, in retrospect, horrible too. But that doesn't change the fact that, ultimately, Rex Ryan is, or should have been, the HC, and he should have held the offense accountable. He didn't.]

    TL; DR

Everybody knew this basically - including myself. Rex Ryan is a glorified DC. He has no pulse for the offense. And it shows.

Like a few others I have been a Jet fan since the 80's so the first few years with Rex as HC were a wonderful thing.

The one thing I do not miss is the lack of discipline that multiple others have detailed in their responses. The Bills lost to the Giants by making so many mental errors and commiting penalties that killed so many of their drives and they were still in with a chance to win in the 4th quarter of that game. Same against the Pats and like him or loathe him you can not give Brady help to beat you, the penalties there really killed them. Verses the Bengals the Bills were in it til Watkins got injured and then they lost composure and the yellow flags began to fly.

We once won a game Vs Buffalo in 2013 after committing 20 penalties - now the Bills seem to have the same issues

Apparently, you haven't heard the news. Our vaunted defensive line is complete dogshit.
