We've been sacked twice in 5 games. That is a ridiculous number. THAT'S what a smart QB does. Fitz played perhaps his best game today, he ignited the crowd, made some perfect throws, was extremely accurate (without the drops he's over 80% comp rate), played within himself. But the thing he does the best is he doesn't get sacked. He sidesteps, he steps up, he doesn't backpedal, he is constantly looking downfield, he takes off when necessary, he throws the ball out of bounds, he checks down. He doesn't create long down and distance situations for himself. Zero sacks. Having said that, Let's Go Mets. _
Totally agree. And Geno is/was/always will be the undisputed king of the unnecessary, back-pedaling-induced, 20 yard sack.
Absolutely. I feel like with Decker and Marshall Fitz could be playing alot better. Hopefully this game was the turning point.
Meh. I like the wins as much as anyone, but Fitz leaves a lot to be desired. The TD to Marshall was a ridiculously bad throw that looks good on his statline. Yes, he's better than Geno. Bar isn't exactly set very high.
Lets put it this way, Fitz being here means we don't have to watch Geno. For that much, I appreciate and salute you Fitzmagic.
Fitz still sucks. "He doesn't get sacked" should not be one of his most redeeming qualities. But such are the expectations of QB-scarred Jets fans.
What would you change? This is where we are at. He leaves a lot to be desired but we can't go out and get a stud at this point. _
agree fitz had his best game as a jet he`s not flashy but gets the job done ....probably has the most talent he`s ever played with ..sound running game in Ivory and wideouts in marshall and decker .... next week a big test , I m thinking he`ll have to throw early ,belicheat will look to take away Ivory early making fitz beat them with the pass so making plays down field will be a must
Nothing, personnel wise, although I might get Kerley some offensive snaps over Smith and Enunwa, who are both practice squad material thus far this season. I'm not advocating making a QB change. But I'm not writing a valentine for Fitz every time the Jets win. He's not playing great.
He's not in the upper tier of QB's, but he definitely played well today. Anybody harping about Fitz today is picking the wrong week to complain. Sure the TD play by Marshall was ridiculous, but I see a lot of other crappy throws being completed by other QB's in this league. Also, there we're a couple of good throws that were dropped today so you can say it evens out. If Fitz plays this well the rest of the way (he probably won't) then the Jets will win a lot of games this year.
