Stating the obvious, both teams will look to do the same: contain the RBs and make the QB beat them from the pocket.
I'm a little concerned about Bilal Powell, who is listed as questionable with a groin. He does a lot for us: rushing, catching passes, and pass blocking.
It will be interesting to see if the Skins force the Jets to throw down field. There are Jets fans (Geno apologists) who think Fitz is incapable of hitting targets effectively more than 20 yards. They will probably be yelling at the TV the whole game.....
If the Jets DO get the upper hand early, it will be interesting to see if we let the 'Skins hang around (ala Miami) or if we develop a killer instinct and run up the score.
If we do score early, we'll let them hang around unless there's a barrage of turnovers caused by the D that give us a bunch of drives starting in their territory.
The only question I have left is wether or not the skins Defense can generate enough pressure to make Fitz commit turnovers, or by extension if their front 7 can slow ivory down enough that we'd have to lean on an obvious passing play more than we'd like to. Their corners shouldn't beat our WR's, but theres ways of making them a non-factor. Our Defense WILL keep their offense under control so long as the jets O doesn't hand them opportunities and can give them some rest.
Our defensive front should overwhelm the shit out of the Redskins line. No starting Center and no probowl LT? Bowles will be sending heavy A Gap Blitzes all game. Get right in Kurts face early and often. If we don't turn the ball over in our own zone, I can see the Skins scoring 6 or 7 points at most.
Redskins 2 starting corners are out...i say marshall n deck have a feast....would be nice to see devin grab a couple passes
Apparently this game will end in a 0-0 tie, because the 'Skins AINT scoring on our defense, and after reading this tread about how GREAT-AWESOME-INCREDIBLE the 'Skins front 7 are, I guess we ain't scoring on them neither. Damn! I was hoping for a good game.
It's a pretty safe bet that you didn't read this thread at all and just made an idiot post while you were drunk. Which is fun anyway.
I've never heard of Kurt Cousins. Must be his first career start, which is a lucky break for us since I was pretty concerned about Kirk Cousins.
Cousins is the better QB, essentially what Chad Pennington was here. But I don't see them being able to run the ball on us. Matt Jones is also out, so all they have left is Morris who can't break any tackles anyway. They can't run the ball, not without Trent Williams, not against our defense. If we score 17 points we'll win this game.
Before the season, I was expecting Washington to be one of the bottom tier teams in the league this season...... Let's hope I'm correct for at least this week. JETS D should be able to tighten the screws down on them......... Sheldon's got the munchies GO JETS
Havent thought much about this game until today but wow the Skins offense and secondary are depleted! No DJax, Jones , Reed or Hall today. Jets should be licking their chops to go up against this team. With a fairly mediocre matchup for us and the Bills going up against the undefeated Bengals w/o Tyrod , we could be looking really good in that 2nd spot come 4 o'clock.
Chad? I don't see it D-hawk. I think Pennington (when healthy) was clearly a cut above Cousins, a sporadic career backup. If both were on the current Jet roster, Cousins is collecting splinters….as for Chad, imagine him running this Jet team….
