Yeah, I guess it's just a continuation of how we finished up the year. None of those guys hit the last 2 weeks of the season and it looked like it carried over into the playoffs. -
d'Arnaud gets a pass from me because he's had his hands full with the Pitching staff. But I think he has a big hit in him. He did get Wright with that SF I'm expecting either Cespy or Duda to come around. Murph has given credit to Cespy hitting 4th for his surge the 2nd half Flores at SS may have him a little off hitting, for now. Him being thrust back at SS under that pressure had to be tough. We can only hope Wright can pick it up...he's either tired, or pressing, or both imo
Yeah, I don't want to get down on d'Arnaud, he's become my favorite Met. He's done a great job with that staff and I get the feeling they like throwing to him. I'd love to see him pound a ball or 2 at Wrigley. _
I think you're right, and it's really a big factor. Him, Collins/Warthen, and the staff, and the game plans. I've really come to like him. What a great bunch of guys we have!
Flores hit .300 for the series, in a tough spot having to come in and hold down shortstop after the Tejada injury. I agree with the rest, although I am still of the old school of your catcher is way more important than what that bat does - so I think d'Arnaud gets a slight pass as well as the pitchers are throwing. DUDA sucks, always has, always will - we are stuck with him in the lineup because we need his defense, but he may go on one of his tear, but I wouldn't count on it. Cepedes could learn a thing or two from Murphy - he chases so much crap, he will make you pay for a mistake, but has no discipline at the plate. Wright, I really don't know what to think at this point - but I can't stand him in the 2 spot. I would bat Conforto and Flores higher in the order - I would drop Travis to the eight spot.
Cespedes is swinging for the fences. When he hit one the other day it went way out. It was a Kingman shot. But love to see more contact. Because he could hit one out one-handed.
Cubs may have gone 7-0 against us this year but they didn't face Darnaud, Wright, Cespedes, and Conforto. Need Wright and Cespedes to get it going. Wright finally made solid contact last night when he hit a line drive off the Dodgers reliever. I'll take any kind of contact off his bat at this point.
Right on with this assessment, David wright is overrated, he went from a batter who used the whole field to a swing for the fences hitter, he does not even get close to pitches on the outside part of the plate anymore. I also agree with the fact that he needs to be dropped in the order, he should be 3rd behind Murphy and ahead of Cespedes. Duda is a disaster at the plate, I would rather see him strike out looking than flaling at balls in the dirt like he if was swinging at a whiffle ball.
. pclfan _ @ pclfan 2 hours ago If the Mets win 4 games before the Cubs, the Mets get to play in the World Series. .
I can't be too concerned about the bats when the one game we didn't face a cy young candidate they exploded for 13 runs. Cubs pitching doesn't scare me outside Arrieta and he only scares me a little bit.
I was figuring games 1 & 5 Harvey, 2 & 6 Noah and 3 & 7 Degrom with Matz getting game 4. You may be right though and it probably makes more sense to have Degrom go 6 then have Noah, Matz and Harvey all available for game 7.
Sandy going over things: the roster, staff, and the makeup of the team and approaches- http://web.sny.tv/media/video.jsp?content_id=523553183
I'm excited about tonight. I don't anticipate either team getting swept, but I think this first game is very important. If for no other reason than to alleviate any psychological advantage the Cubs may think they have. Let's get this 0-7 stink off of us tonight
I was so close to buying tickets to this game tonight but I backed out. They wanted like 280$ for upper deck first baseline on StubHub. I am so pumped to watch Harvey tonight. He has GOT TO BRING IT! None of this 3 or 4 hits in a row cheap bullshit like last outing.
If we win tonight that honestly isn't the worst thing. Game 3 and 4 Thor and DeGrom we have serious advantage over the Cubs. Is that Sandy conceding to arrieta?
I don't think he's conceding at all. Cubs haven't seen Matz before and he's lefty which should give him the advantage over Rizzo and Schwarber. Arrieta faced a minor league lineup last time we faced him.
