neither have quite lived up to draft position. but we are desperate for a quality punt returner, and Cooks would be a clear upgrade over Smith or Owusu on offense. Pryor is a limited player, and fairly replaceable imo. i don't think the dropoff would be significant if our backup Safeties took over. so as long as there aren't any attitude or work ethic problems with Cooks that i'm unaware of, i'd do that trade at this point.
I thought Carr was worthy of the 18th pick for sure. Hopefully Petty makes us believers. Definitely didn't have much interest in Cooks, heck I thought Jordan Matthews was a better player.
Brandin Cooks returned punts and KO's last year to the tune of 10 @3.5 yds, and 1 for 12 respectively. He doesn't return any kicks anymore. Mac's not trading his starting Safety on his D for Brandin Cooks. Thank God Calling Brandin Cooks an upgrade over D. Smith at this time is mind boggling. There's no way Mac would consider that trade with that consideration
i think it's a mistake the Saints haven't used Cooks in the return game more. they aren't getting the full value out of him. i would certainly use him there. lol, what exactly has Smith done in this league to say he's a better player than Cooks?
I liked Carr but didn't think our staff would take him under the circumstances. So I wasn't very hopeful. And was hoping Zach Martin would fall I hear you about Cooks. I liked several guys over him including Benjaman
Martin was my choice as well. was really hoping the Cowboys would take Manziel when he dropped, giving us a shot at Martin.. Jordan Matthews was my other guy. in hindsight, Carr would probably have been the best pick tho.
Lol. Forget it. Macs not trading a 1st and a 2nd pick for Brandin Cooks. lmao Writing off Smith at this point is ridiculous. We have two slot receivers that are better than him on our team now. That trade ain't happening in this lifetime. It does hold some hope in Fantasy Football tho, lol
who said send both a first and second pick for Cooks, or writing off Smith? nice strawman......not at all what i said. tell me who the two slot recievers are who are currently better than Cooks on our team right now? if u say Smith is right now better, i want a reason. he's done nothing as of yet, and will take time to grow into the NFL.
Cooks is better because Brees is throwing at him. If Smith goes there, he will thrive there, provided he learns how to gain separation [which he hasn't learned exactly yet]. As for Cooks - with Fitzpatrick throwing at him, his numbers will dwarf even further. Get the point?
Pryor is much improved so far in his 2nd year. No surprise considering Bowles is using him correctly (unlike Rex), and the fact that he got a year of experience. Cooks hasn't really done anything so far, and that's playing with Drew Brees and in Sean Payton's system. No way I do that trade.
Listen Mr. GM, Mac wouldn't even trade Smith for him. Smith isn't a slot receiver. Decker and Kerley are both better than Cooks in the slot. Doesn't even matter. I could care less who you think is good. I know that trade would never happen. That's point here, and the reasons are pretty obvious If he could return Payton would have him doing it. They drafted to him to excel under under Brees and Payton. He's not doing that yet. They'd be better off getting Kerley for Cooks, lol. At least he can return a punt. To think that TB and Mac would give up on Smith at this point, who is an outside receiver is preposterous. He was drafted as an outside big play WR. To say that he's done nothing in this league under the circumstances is ridiculous. There is no way in hell that Mac would think that way about him at this point. So trading a 1st round pick and giving up on a 2nd pick ain't ever happening. TB and Mac are not playing Fantasy Football.
listen deuchebag, its a hypothetical question. of course no one is trading. how dense are you? and i never said give up on Smith, or somehow package him in. he will take some time to develop....more time than Cooks who is coming up on his critical 3rd year, and had much work at the college level. it's possible to roster both on the same team. again......for the slow......hy-po-thet-ic-al
Typical of you. Always the sneaky lol, condescending lame sarcastic bs, or resorting to name calling, when you're self absorbed bs 'football knowledge' is challenged. Go back to your fantasy football. Stop rationalizing your dumb ideas to show off you know something Cunt
I think its turning out to be the better pick for US (different story for some team of different makeup), though hindsight plays a part. Pryor's got a good amount of upside at Safety, perhaps more than people might think. I love his range, eagerness to play physically and versatility in stopping the pass and run, he can be anywhere he's needed and not be out of place, and he's in great hands now that he's got Revis and co. as teammates and SB safety Bowles as his head coach. He'll be in a great position to make huge plays from here on. Cooks is a good receiver but where does he fit in this O right now? replacing Kerley I guess? I think he's got less value to us than Pryor would, its slightly more rare to get a player like Pryor than one like Cooks.
Until we have a QB worth protecting or a QB who can air it out for 400 yards/game, why waste draft pick after draft pick on that side of the ball? A player like Pryor or Wilkerson or Sheldon or Williams can elevate the D side of the ball overnight and deliver dividends NOW (like 3-1 this year). Swap the defensive guys I mentioned above for some TEs or Guards or WRs and the Jets are 0-4 at this point. At least we're dominant on one side. Now, get a fucking QB, then start drafting weapons for him.
