There is no one trying to attack anyone's rights. How does background checks and regulations take away anyone's rights. Many gun owners want rules and regulations to purchase firearms. IMO there is more pressure on this issue on the right than on the left. If so much pressure from the left base than why almost no change in the rules.
Apparently there is a shooting on Syracuse Campus going on right now. Not sure if its students or criminals. That section of the university is known to have "drifters".
No it's not "on campus". It's on the other side of Route 81, two shot one dead. In a bad ghetto type area. Campus police just put an alert out to stay in doors. My son lives in off campus housing between the academic center and the shooting site. Actually one of the houses I lived in was even closer to that area. But Route 81 cuts off the bad areas from campus. Just spoke to him, helicopters in the air but everyone is safe. _
The shooting was about 3 miles from his house. About 1.5 miles from campus. With a major elevated highway -Route 81- in between. _
That area is 1000 miles away from campus if it's a mile. There are areas like that near every campus in America. My daughter went to Loyola and some of the areas within 2-3 miles were awful. _
We have those areas here in Lincoln, but most of those is also where the students live as well. I live pretty much right on the railroad here and its an OK area. Nothing bad though.
Yup. I remember when we went up for Freshmen Orientation. During the program the head of Campus Security got up and went through his scpiel about safety and security and then he put up a map of the campus and surrounding areas and it had 2 circles drawn, one slightly to the east and one slightly to the west and he said "tell your kids never to go there". _
haha I've been to the areas he's referring too. It's bad yeah. Johns Hopkins is only about a mile south.. beautiful campus. Loyola nice campus too. but they are both very close to the a lot of the projects that inspired 'The Wire'. on either side. I worked slightly north of Loyola on I-83
Yeah, some really pretty areas--we used to go eat up in Towson too which was really nice. Every campus has those bad areas. I remember when we visited Maryland (main campus University College) and I remember thinking I wouldn't walk off campus in any direction! _
Yeah, I lived at the end of Euclid (off of Comstock)...it was fun to walk down there at night. Someone I knew got mugged by a guy who jumped out of a bush with a box cutter.
