The Mets had their chance in the 8th and 9th sans Kershaw. But their pen pitched well. And Jansen is a good pitcher. The Mets must lead the majors in solo HRs.
This is why the Mets fucked up their chance at home field advantage.... Another long plane trip to the west coast. FUCK ME!!!! I know this is fuckin onvious, but we need to jump on Greinke early or put him in high stressful situations before he settles in. They're practically begging Granderson to bunt..... Whats the point of having Kirk on the playoff roster taking up space when that spot could have went to Young, who has wheels........ I'm venting right now...... FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Duda is killing us. His peaks and valleys drives me crazy. A game 5 against a Cy Young worthy pitcher, so scary.
Duda is such a streaky hitter. He can win you and series by himself if he goes on one of those streaks or he can strike out 9 of 13 times. If it was another lefty on the mound I would maybe switch to Cuddyer starting at 1B but since it's a lefty v righty you have to leave him in. I have zero confidence in this game 5. Facing Kershaw and Greinke 80% of the time in a 5 game series is impossible. Game 2 was our shot to end this in 3.. Now it looks like we might lose in 5. Fuck Man.
Duda isn't a guy I have a lot of confidence in. Our previous 1st baseman was also highly inconsistent. There were stretches this season when he basically was over his head offensively. I don't see him swinging at the bad pitches as much as he did earlier in the season. But I'd like to see him traded because his negatives pretty much offset the positives.
Mets really need to approach game 5 in a unique way...Apparently your team never runs on the bases. For an inept offense that can only hit HRs, that is really amazing...Need to mix it up because Grienke will draw alot of ground/fly outs
I think there could be a market for Duda. He's hit two years in a row 30 and 27 Hrs. A team might think he's still a young player with 40 Hr potential. And has shown at least some improvement in staying away from bad pitches. His Abs over the last few months haven't been as bad as earlier this season. But for me after watching this guy for several years I think the down periods are too long and it brings down the team. I'd rather have a player with less power and more consistency.
If someone told me before the season we would have Degrom vs Greinke t advance to NLCS. GIMME IT! But just knowing what has happened the past few days I am not happy where we are. This series should have been over Monday night.
Murphy's approach with men on base showed how unprepared they are for the big stage, Murph could use the whole field better than any one on the mets roster, instead he fell for the trap of trying to go for the fences, he should have just gone where the pitch was thrown. Anywho, I think it's over, the dodgers have the smarter situational hitters at this point. Hopefully mets can learn from this experience and use it when they are back next year.
You guys are whiny whiny whiny. We just lost to one of the best pitchers ever. Take a chill pill. At least wait for us to lose before you start bitching.
It's really hard for me to get on a guy that has TWO HR's off Kershaw in this series. He did work a full count that AB too, maybe he tried to kill the ball and got HR happy after he took Kershaw deep but honestly I'm worried about some of the other hitters over Murphy. Duda's basically our version of Nick Swisher and Wright's ONE clutch hit in the last decade was his only hit of the series so far, and against a humpty dumpty reliever at that.
Murphys at bat with 2 men on base was not against their ACE, he should have gone to the opposite field. Instead he tried to do to much, it's situational hitting, thats how playoff games are won.
I'm not saying Murph should be cut, I'm using his at bat as a representation of the team as a whole, no situational approach.
The craziest thing is.. if Wright has a monster hit tomorrow night, all is forgotton. I'l take his stupid two hits that won or helped us win the series. All is forgotten if that happens. Grienke loves to nibble around the zone. We need to be disciplined at the plate - I'm looking at you Travis, no more balls over your damn head - and make him work hard for his outs. He wants us to chase that slider down in the zone. Make him go 2-2 3-2 in a lot counts and we will see Anderson by the 5th.
