With him being behind Demarco Murray and Ryan Matthews in Philadelphia, and apparently not going to be much of a factor there, I was wondering if the Jets should try to acquire him. Maybe Kerley, and a low draft choice. I have always liked his game, and he surely would boost the return game. Any thoughts?
You want to trade a young slot receiver that is dependable and a draft choice for a 32 year old third down back and punt returner?
Heh, by those terms no. But I have to wonder if the CS is satified with the current RB rotation. Powell has been a decent player, but for a playoff run as a one two punch with Ivory? Not so sure about that.
Kerley doesn't play on this team so why not trade him and don't be surprised if he isn't traded by the deadline....he is not much of a returner either.
Nope. That would be the move of a desperate team trying to make a splash - like Harvin last year. I could see Sproles going to the Colts.
i dont see how sproles "isnt going to be much of a factor there". he is playing 30+ snaps a game, is their 3rd down back, and returns kicks and punts and also works in 2 back sets. if anything, matthews or murray would be available. not sproles who fills tons of roles for them
what is kerley dependable at? he is basically a kick return himself and not half the returner sproles is.
i dont think we need to trade for sproles, but id move kerley for a dynamic punt returner in a second. as is kerley cant really beat out the 4 guys in front of him for snaps. so he is basically a return man himself
I heard Westoff refer to Powell as a JAG the other day. I happen to like Powell, and I think Westoff was really saying that Powell could never take over for Ivory as a starter if Ivory was hurt. Watching the Philly game, I agree with this. Powell can take some carries, catch some passes, but he cannot carry the load even for a game. I hope Ridley can come back. He is a quality runner--except for the fumbles. By the way, how did he manage to fumble those Patriot footballs?
The Eagles have a better slot guy in Matthews. I dont think they have any interest in moving Sproles.
I've never understood the "Random player isn't being used; wonder if the FO is considering trading for him" threads. It's like a thought crosses someone's mind and they need to start a thread about it. _
He's dependable in the fact that if someone is to go down he can fill the shoes a lot better than whatever else we have. Kerley can get open, make the catch and the yards after. I'm not referring to his return ability at all. He's dependable to be able to fill in if he is needed. He will be prepared and will make some plays. We need the WR depth. You just don't go trading away players at a position we are deep in. We haven't had this luxury at WR in a LONG time.
I would trade Kerley and a 6th or 7th for Sproles in a heart beat. Powell hasn't been a very reliable safety valve and Sproles in our patented 5 receiver sets is a matchup nightmare. People are jaded by the fact that our only reliable target for a couple years was Kerley. It seemed to be the shear fact that someone on the field has to catch balls and it wasn't going to be Salim Haakim, David Clowney or Stephen Hill. He's really just a 4th receiver at best in this league and while he's reliable in catching the football when he's open, he's not open all too much because of his physical limitations. Sproles is a game changer, 32 or not. I meant to quote the post you quoted btw. There's no way Philly makes that deal anyways. Why trade away a playmaker when your team is reeling, for a guy in Kerley that would be behind Algholor, Matthews, Huff and Austin anyways.
It's never enough! This is the best this team has looked in over a decade and people are still clamoring for better QB play or to swap out players like this is Fan Duel.
