Can you hear it? The Silence.. The crickets coming out of Florham Pk. The peace and tranquility (Genobots not withstanding). The lack of chest thumping? How about not one single: "I'm the best _______ in the NFL" statement.. You'd think the Jets were on sabbatical. Read the papers and you may have to actually dig a bit to find a Jet article. Even Mehta has to work a lot harder this year. We've had early controversy but that was before the sesaon began and dealt with swiftly by the new CS. Nothing so far so lets all knock on wood.... Isn't it nice that the circus is gone to a smaller venue in a city far far away? How does it feel to have folks come up to you in your gear and for once, not snicker except maybe for Geno's jawbreak. How does "respect" wear these days? Fits me pretty good tbh. Thanks TB.. Thanks Mac.. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS !!!
I am loving the silence. I am also loving the respect this team Is getting from opposing fans. I read a few articles on NBC Sports app, fans of opposing teams say how they like Bowles and respect him. It is still early. I remember first 2 years of Rex and I loved those days too. But thinga went downhill after a while. I am cautiously optimistic at the moment. I hope things turn out for the best. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
Baseball playoffs have started, hockey just started. Great time for a bye week and to take all media attention off of us.
It's probably part FO/CS enforcing media silence, and part winning. It's just 3-1, but winning your last game before a bye and being above .500 kind of silences the half-assed attention-grabbing headlines from the NY sports tabloids by itself. Here's hoping they come out of the bye week and beat the Skins like a drum.
I prefer the noise, it keeps everybody involved. Might as well live in Indiana or Tennessee if you like it this quiet.
Way too early to sing the praises of anyone affiliated with the Jets. Based on the 1/4 of the season, with the defense playing well (could be better) and the offense playing better than expected (with Fitz at QB), the expectation has to be a playoff berth minimally. Let's see where we are at Christmas. Although, you are right about the level of "business first" attitude prevailing in the org. so far. That's refreshing.
One thing about that first year under Rex... it looked doomed in the middle while the Jets went 1-6. That was a span of 7 games where the product on the field really sucked. No one was expecting the playoffs and when it eventually looked possible to make the playoffs later in the season, there wasn't a lot of confidence in the team. It was largely an unenjoyable season. From 2011 to 2014 the Jets were blown out by 3 or more touchdowns on 12 separate occasions. Those games sucked as well. Not only is the 2015 team staying off the back pages, but the games so far have been interesting to watch. Three double digit victories and they almost had an improbable comeback after a horrendous start against the Eagles. Sure SOJ fans nit pick every play, but come on, three double digit victories? Lighten up already.
To be fair Im sure we all love it cause were 3-1 and the personnel is better. If we were 1-3 and players were underachieving we'd all be pushing for Bowles to make a QB change and to try to stir things up. And the media would also be pushing him more than they are now too. Im sure Niners fans were ready for Harbaugh to be gone after last season..think any of them want Tomsula in there now?
Not sure any coach could have done a better job over there with all the talent losses they had this season.
Very true. But I also dont Rex wouldn't have done much worse with the talent we have here. Coaches are important but nothing is more important than player personnel IMO
Guy looks like he prides himself in grill-master themed aprons when his wife and him have company over for a BBQ.
Bowles has certainly got a more professional air than the bluster of Rex and that is refreshing, but I wonder if Rex could've gotten us a 3-1 start with the same personnel. A whole new secondary, Marshall, Carpenter, Fitz? I think Rex got a bit of a raw deal, but think Bowles is every bit the coach Rex is - we just needed a fresh start and Woody wanted to make the billboard crowd happy.
