Ok fair enough, let him be a clipboard king, but I don't want him anywhere near Mangold's backside with something/anything on the line.

    For the Geno fans, enjoy:

No point in arguing about it. Both sides have made valid points. For now, let's hope for the best with Fitz. But if he stumbles, then we'll see what we have with Geno. It's a shame though. This team has Super Bowl talent but no QB to lead the way.

Be careful there...according to some on this board if we put Geno in BEFORE we lose like 8 games we'll have sightings of "Fire Bowles!"

One of my biggest gripes about fools in the NFL is that they are too reactionary. Some are saying that Fitzpatrick fades at the end of the season...pfffttt...Fitzpatrick faded after the FIRST pass in London! I'm sorry, but I do not need to lose any more than once or twice before I make the switch. But, mark my words...yes...we'll be out of playoff contention before they make the switch and then it will be another year in the dumper. Shame too...because we are stacked, yet again other than QB, to make a damn SB run...yes, I said it..."F" the playoffs! We have a TEAM, other than the damn QB, to make a SB run. I'd take our TEAM over NE any day of the week!!! Outside the damn QB...as usual.

While I'm ranting...you can KISS any semblance of a decent QB in the draft GONE...gone...gone...gone...for at LEAST the next 2-3 years. Unless we trade the farm and move up to 1 or 2...and this is IF there is one to be picked.

I find it hilarious that some people are on the jock of our Rookie QB panning out. I mean...since Geno Smith didn't take us to a SB in year one or two he's a piece of shit and doesn't deserve to breathe free oxygen. By Jets fan standards the only good QB is a QB that can light up the score board the minute the slap on the pads...at this rate we will never have a satisfactory QB. I've resigned myself to the fates.

There is not a semblance of a decent QB in the next draft and possibly the draft after that.

This is going to be a very weak draft for QBs--not as bad as 2013 but there are no Mariota's or Teddy's or Carr's or Winston's.

No one that you'd want to spend a high first rounder on and possibly not a first rounder at all.

Connor Cook is not wowing anyone, what do you know about Jared Goff, Cardale Jones might not even be starting the rest of the year, Prescott isn't even a QB, Hackenberg sucks moose cock, Cody Kessler or Kevin Hogan? Maybe an unknown rockets up the boards like Bortles?

Maybe the kid out of UCLA-true freshman Josh Rosen- in 2-3 years -- but who knows?

Nobody is tanking this year for a QB. We're not missing out on our franchise QB if we go 9-7 as opposed to 3-12.

I think it's Petty or Bust after this season unless we happen into a top 20 QB via trade or freak free agent situation.

    I'm strangely okay with that.

    Me too.

Unless Mac somehow pulls a rabbit out of his hat

Petty has the ingredients. We're gonna find out whether he can put them together.

I'm not counting on a top tier elite guy. But I think he can be just under that.

I can see him excelling among his peers in a couple/few years.

The road there is fraught with perils however

QB class next year looks like it could be even worse than this coming year so unlike most years (last year) if we were to be knocked out of contention there's not a lot to tank for (#suckfortheduck). Next years starting QB is on our current roster.

i think we are going to have the same 3 names on the qb roster to open training camp. with 2 of the 3 remaining for the 2016 season.

It's not about "didn't take us to the Super Bowl." It's about "looks like a QB with poor reaction time who can't make a read for his life."

When the play he is expecting breaks open he completes a pretty pass at times. When his first read isn't there it just gets so ugly.

I wish I was more confident in his ability to suddenly figure out the speed of the game and the reads and then to make good crisp passes. It's just that there are so many things he has to do better to get there and that's asking a lot.

You are spot on here...let's hope between Fitz and Geno we can continue to field a competitive team to let this kid ride the pine the appropriate amount of time and not throw him to the wolves too soon.... :)

Man...our whole TE crew is dog shit. Who would have ever thought we'd miss the days of Kyle Brady! At least he was a stellar blocker. We don't have shit either blocking or catching the ball... :(

Agreed. Easily the weakest position on the team.

Yeah. Even if Fitz's wheels fall off at some point, I don't see a better alternative in the draft. The only projectable NFL QB I like is Goff but he'll be gone early. We might have to keep (loud vomiting) Geno on the sidelines another year. But I don't think Petty is going to "get it" for a couple of years.

As yes, our TE situation really sucks donkey balls....

Makes me wonder why no one has bought up the fact that IF Geno was lighting it up in practice, Bowles wouldn't be so solid in his Qb assessment.
