I thought about that, but unfortunately, one of the few consistent knocks I heard about Fitz from Bills fans when he first got here was that he was one of the worst deep ball throwers they had ever seen. I mean, that might be a stretch, but after watching him for a full quarter of an NFL season, I understand the sentiment.
No that was the speculation, no film to back it up. But he's been open enough to be getting the ball.
Anybody who voted for Geno needs their head examined. Really? Fucking Geno? OMG, he is lucky to still be on the team.
I think a small part of it is route running and a larger part is that he's not in sync with Fitz and spent practically all of preseason and a lot of the first quarter of the season in the sideline injured. Miscommunications and not knowing the offense well enough. Although, after the first few plays where he was in the wrong place, you'd think Fitz would wise up and find a different target. Smith is the only player on Sunday who was consistently in a completely different place from where the ball was going. That's not Fitz being unable to get the ball to him, that's him throwing the ball to where he expects the receiver to be.
the only game geno had as bad as fitz' eagles game was the buffalo game and from what i've heard, most people blame that on marty making geno force it to harvin.
I'm not taking about the deep balls. there were several non-deep balls towards Smith sunday morning that were just way off target.
On the whole I am marginally inclined to say you are a more good than bad poster here. WHen you turn up the obtuse dial? Not your best moments.
If you go by INTs: NE in 2013, BUF in 2013 and 2014 If you go by QBR (Fitz had 26.9): NE in 2013 (15.0), TEN in 2013 (7.8), PIT in 2013 (6.5), CIN in 2013 (4.1), NO in 2013 (14.8), BUF in 2013 (0.7), BAL in 2013 (3.8), MIA in 2013 (1.6), DET in 2014 (18.9), SD in 2014 (5.9), BUF in 2014 (0.0), and MIA in 2014 (9.9). The argument for Geno to play is that this offense is much more talented than what he played with the last 2 years, not that he only had one game worse than Fitz did against the Eagles.
I agree with most that you stick with Fitz for now. But what many people can't seem to get is that Geno came from a completely different type of offense in college, never should have played year one, and made mistakes that young QBs make when they don't understand the offense and defensive formations. Add to that he had very little to work with and it makes sense that he would make a huge jump this year. Year 3 is when you know what you have. His mental mistakes aren't because he's dumb, it's because he had not run a Pro Style offense. He has much better natural ability than Fitz and if Fitz is injured we are probably better off in the long run finding out what we have with Geno. And no, we don't know. Anyone who watched the games the past few years knows that the majority of his mistakes came when receivers couldn't get open and he forced the issue. Let's see what he has when receivers are open and everyone isn't stacking the box against the run.
I can't believe some you still don't get it..we are winning, we are 3-1 and if Bowles were to make a switch and Smith played to his usual ways and lost a couple of games he might be fired on the spot for making such a stupid decision to begin with. Smith is not playing, not now and not ever unless we lose I would guess at least 2-3 in a row. Smith got his last coach fired and don't think that is lost on Bowles.
Fitz is getting the job done. We are one win away from matching our win total last season. While his INT's have been painful like any other QB in the last 6 years, difference is they haven't costed us the game. I hope he can cut down on them. But the fact of the matter is he is making use of our offensive weapons. Hopefully him and Smith can get on the same page. That fact alone could make a huge difference. If Fitz can finish this year with 22 TD's 16 INT's we are easily a wild card team. If Fitz can manage at least 5 or more TD's to INT's we will be in good shape. He's not what we want next year, or in the future but we are 3-1. You stick with him.
I was really hoping for less INT's. But we all knew what we had in Fitz. Just as long as he is throwing TD's and he doesn't tank we should be fine. The man has only been sacked twice, our oline is doing a good job. He just needs to cut down on the throws into double coverage.
And that's the problem. He has as much as said Marshall is his number 1, 2 and 3 target and being the best receiver on the team he will always get double covered. He did throw a little more to Devin Smith in the last game but those two still aren't on the same page.
