Go to a game. Just once. I've been to the ups and downs. Was in the house when Benny Agbayani hit the walk off HR against the Giants and it was magical. A few weeks later I was in the house to see the Yanks close out our Mets in Game 5 and had to watch that douche Wade Boggs ride around on horseback around our infield. _
9:30 start time on Friday. Nice! Can enjoy some hockey and get out right in time to catch the Mets..only downside is I'll have to stick around in Newark to watch them. Yikes!
It's authentic and really really good Portuguese food. Bar in front, you walk through a bunch of locals playing cards through a doorway into the restaurant in back and its sublime. _
Matt Harvey AWOL? Was not at the mandatory workout and Sandy doesn’t know why. Hope it's easily explained and not something that gets blow out of proportion.
Matt Harvey says he was caught in traffic. I'm guessing he just over slept. Fine the man, but don't make a big deal about it.
Guys on the radio are going apeshit over this shit right now. Especially wrights comments about "I'll answer questions about guys who were here for the workout"
I don't get why David just couldn't put on a nice face about it to the media and talk to Harvey privately. Terry Collins is out of line here I think. Even if you are feeling a certain way about it, handle it with him privately. Now from here until the start of the series this is going to be a talking point. Terry just turned this into a big deal when it didn't have to be.
Mark my words. This Harvey situation will get WAY more attention than the CC going to rehab story. Just watch how they attack the Mets over this while dismissing the Yankees issue as "the team doing the right thing". If the situations were reverse it would be no big deal for the Yankees, but a starting Mets pitcher quitting on the team in the post season would open the flood gates.
I think the media wouldn't be making a big deal of this if Wright and Terry themselves didn't make it a big deal.
I dont think the Harvey thing is a big deal but its just further proof that this guy doesnt get it. He isnt a kid. He's a 26 year old man. He isnt Bryce Harper who's 22 and is still at an immature age. If you're immature at 26 chances are you are a finished product , mindset wise. With that said , Wright has ever reason to call him out. Sounds like he's losing patience with Harvey more than anyone. Not a real question who the players were that went to TC to complain about Harvey's limits.
I don't have an issue with Collins either. Answer the questions and move on. I like the way Terry turns it around on the media and points out their stupid shit. If you don't say anything it becomes a 600 lb. Gorilla. But they were pissed and let it out a little, and Harvey's has to eat this I will say that I'm not too crazy about players saying much, including the Captain. I don't wanna know what the Captain does in house. That's where Wright should be like Jeter, say nothing, and get it done the field. Terry's statement was enough for me and I actually liked it. One spokesman to the media from the Clubhouse, unless of course it's El Jefe Alderson Now Harvey put some serious heat on himself Game III. You gotta wonder about the future with Harvey....
I just saw Wright's comment, after reading it earlier. I have no problem with what he said. Harvey fucked up and it's on him. It is what it is
I think a lot of people in the organization are fed up with Harvey. He seems like the ultimate douche bag( Still don't want him traded), but do they have to air out their grievance with him publicly? I just think the playoffs start Friday, this shouldn't be the story line. Which is Harvey fault, but he should be dealt with privately. It's whatever if he goes out there and pitches his ass off in game 3, but it makes me sad the damage he has done to his rep with this fan base. I still don't get why anyone would want him traded. Short of him doing something mortifying, I don't think there's any justification to trade him. I'm sure if you ask the fan base of the 29 other teams that they can have Matt Harvey and his prima donna tendencies they'd take it in a heart beat. Evan Roberts is reading my brain right now. He shares my opinion. Maybe I should listen to this dude more often. lol Heard mentions of trading Harvey for Manny Machado? If people want to get rid of Harvey because he's a jerk, why would they want Manny Machado?
I was listening to Joe and Evan too. They are always pretty dead on when talking about the Mets. Machado would be an amazing haul for Harvey talent wise but yeah he does have maturity issues as well. But I think he's about 4 years younger than Harvey is. As for this situation they could've kept things quiet. But sooner or later the truth would've gotten out (it always does these days) and that would only lead to more Mets bashing. You're first statement is right on. TC, Sandy and most likely half the team are fed up with Harvey. And that leads to them not keeping this quiet. Matt has dug his own grave with the innings limit garbage so I dont expect the team to do him any favors. Maybe if Harvey was going to be a bigger part of our playoff run the team would've done right by him but its not surprising to me that they arent. Whatever happens in these playoffs I think he is long gone in the offseason. AL teams better get their offers ready.
I'd be surprised if they ever landed Machado, or any player of his ilk. At this point I wouldn't be surprised he'll be traded tho His words in the locker room after the clincher ring hollow now. He may of meant it at the time, but after sleeping on it I doubt they're high on his priority list. Him and Boris are gonna make this impossible for Sandy I'm starting to think He's put a ton pressure on himself for Game III
I'm going to enjoy these games because I know they are rare for the Mets. Aunt getting me some tickets
