We should also ask Wade Phillips how the move from Flutie to Johnson worked out? After all Johnson had a better arm.
I went Geno. To you fitz fans. 24 INTS this season (6 in the first 4 games). Is that an acceptable amount of picks in your eyes? Geno had 13 in 13 games started last year. Lam
There are too many times I read posts from 1985, and I mean TOO MANY, where I think he can't be serious. But would it be fair to say he's trolling? Let's just say he enjoys being a contrarian.
A better poll would be.....do you think we can win the SB this year with Fitz? If not, then we need to eventually get back to Geno to see if he can be a franchise QB. He never had an offense and defense like Fitz has right now, and Fitz still is making poor decisions that we've all seen Geno make. At 3-1, you don't take Fitz out. But considering the teams we played, we should be 3-1...honestly 4-0. I'm fine with Geno's poor stats in years 1 and 2, but I really wanted to see him in year 3 with this offensive talent, West Coast offense, Gailey, and a mindset that he has an elite D and doesn't have to press. If Fitz keeps throwing bad picks, and if his arm strength gets worse throughout the season, we may need Geno to go far in the playoffs.
I'm not intimating that he's going to do any such thing...bring a crap of magic or some such...the team is winning, somewhat, in spite of Fitzpatrick at this point.... How much, really, can Geno do other than bring a bigger upside? I guess, to be honest...now that I've had a good night's sleep at a Holiday Inn Express, is that the only way you do not insert Geno Smith after the Bye is if the coaching staff really has decided to cut him at the end of the season. That is what you are telling the player and the team. Period. If that's how they decide to go then I respect that decision because I respect the hell out of Bowles. I disagree with it but I respect the decision.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding but it sure sounds like you're saying Geno couldn't be any worse. Why on earth would you completely rule out any downside what so ever when it comes to Geno Smith? As if it's not possible he could make things worse? It's like 2013 & 2014 never happened.
Working off that logic..........the jets are 3-1 and therefore will finish 12-4...........so we stick with our current QB.
I keep hearing about Geno's upside............what exactly is his upside? The guy can chuck the ball a decent distance (regardless of which team ends up with it) and he's cheap thru to the end of next year but from a PR/Marketing, Mental aspect I don't exactly see what his supporters are trying to sell us.
You keep fitz as the starter for now. If he starts to play poorly you put in Geno and see what he's got. If Geno plays poorly you go back to Fitz. You do what you can to win games now. Until and (if) we are eliminated from the playoffs, then you go Geno or Petty because fitz is not the future. We can make the playoffs. Rex Mother Fuckin Grossman got to a Superbowl. Fitz or geno can with the talent on this team.
only if we play smart, mistake free football. Lately, we've been winning BUT, too many penalties..BTW, no one has ever mentioned Geno Smith and Mistake free football except once against a Miami team that had already quit on the season.
That incident is not proof that he isn't respected. And the person that claimed he saw it said Smith did nothing wrong.
He's also on pace for 28 TDs, which is more than Geno had in both seasons combined. So, yeah. (3 of the 6 picks weren't even Fitz's fault)
Cutler had Marshall and Jeffery, which is the equivalent to Marshall and Decker...plus a better RB in Forte (I'm not saying Ivory isn't good. Forte is elite). Plus he had a top 10 TE in Bennett. And he still wasn't good. How would he be any better here?
When discussing stats this logic is flawed.. That could be said for every single QB ever to throw a football. If it matters that it wasn't his fault we would have to go back and take away all the INT's from whoever we are comparing with (Geno, Sanchez, whoever) and take the ones that weren't their fault away also. Then after that we should go back and look at how many INT's were negated by penalties and how many INT's were dropped, and also how many INT's might have been hail mary's at the end of the half and games because in my opinion those mean nothing. In the end, interceptions are interceptions. Having said that, his INT's do not define his play. He could throw 28-32 for 330 yards but 4 picks against WAS and all 4 slipped through our WR's hands. Obviously regardless of the picks he had a unbelievable game. Stats aren't everything. Agreed, Fitz > Cutler on the field, off the field, contract, attitude, literally everything except obviously arm strength. Cutler can stay in Chicago and continue to doom them not us.
He's had some success but he's not top tier and he is being PAID for top tier. If we had made a trade for him on his current contract then we'd have no chance of extending some of our current stars or going FA again next season. We'd be in win now mode and whilst I think we'd be sure of a PO spot with Cutler.........I don't think he makes us an elite, sure thing team. Pretty sure we had a thread on him back at the end of last season when Da Bears were trying to talk up some interest but that contract is HUGE.
