So if what you are saying is valid & Geno had terrible coaching and WR/OL help and we're now doing the right thing with Petty........................surely Petty is the better option going forward over a player that's basically been ruined already? If that's true we'd be better of cutting Geno to prevent him standing in Pettys way next season and drafting in a back-up QB to spot for Fitzy if he goes down in the next few games.
1. Bortles 2. Hoyer 3. Mallet 4. J.McCown 5. L. McCown 6. Vick 7. Tannehill 8. Weeden 9. Clausen 10. Geno
Hoyer and Mallet are on the same team Luke McCown, Vick, Weeden and Clause. Are all backups filling in Such a cop out using those players Fitz vs all 32 real starters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Geno can still learn and improve so disagree with the whole premise that he's already ruined. Hopefully Petty is our future agreed there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It seems like the main argument for Geno supporters is this 1) Geno was in a bad situation before 2) Geno is more physically talented than Fitz. 3) Fitz has always sucked and his teams never win anything (playoffs) 4) If we want to win in the post season we have to take a chance on Geno being better in a better situation. Did I get it right?
Basically. But I don't think we can't win with Fitz...I mean we're 3-1 right now with him and have a soft schedule going forward....It's just a matter of being able to beat good teams in the playoffs and we're inevitably going to need more at the QB position Can Geno give us that? Who knows Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think there's a strong argument to be made that this is the best team Fitz has ever played on. Surely that could help in the w/l column with him at QB the same way it could potentially help Geno. No?
Yes that's definitely true.....I think we would make the playoffs with either player behind center as I think we are that loaded otherwise combined with an easy schedule I'm just going by what I see on the field and while Fitz does some really good things (Pocket awareness, hurry up offense, setting the team up, etc) I just feel like his actual throws look really poor a decent amount of the time...And I worry about when weather and wind will become a factor. He's also been fortunate in that many of his incomplete throws have been up for grabs....Idk to me he looks like a very solid backup Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't think Fitz has ever had a receiver as good as Marshall. If we make the post season with Fitz, it would make absolutely no sense to switch to Geno at that point. Geno hasn't proven anything. Fitz at least puts up average to above average numbers in recent years. If the Jets switch to Geno after making the playoffs, I'd turn in my fan card because they don't want to win. You can't win with physical talent alone.
Cincy - Ocho and TJ Housh are the only combo close to Decker and Marshall IMO. Andre and Hopkins last year too even with Johnson having a down year. Steve Johnson in Buffalo was decent and Britt, Wright, and Washington in Tenn were average. No one is discussing making a change when the playoffs arrive their discussing whether Fitz can win in the playoffs and whether the move should be made now. No one is that dumb. Fitz will be the starter unless he gets hurt or eliminates us from the playoffs which at the point we should just tank anyway like we should have done last year.
So using the 32 'expected' starters from the 4 games you want to use as a comparison; 1. Hoyer/Mallet (Take your pick on who the real starter is!) 2. Tannehill (Can't move the O and has put the Fish in cap hell) 3. J.McCown (Making JFF popular) 4. Bortles (obviously) 5. Bradford (Sanchise might get to play people!) 6. Stafford (Megatron+Tate+Rookie RB sensation and you're barely putting up 14!) 7. Cutler (when he isn't struggling with a sprained uterus) 8. Brees (Has age finally taken him down?) 9. Winston (Showing promise tho') 10. Kapernick (Was Genoesque against the Cardinals) As for the likes of Weeden, Vick and L.McCown............these boys aren't just doing relief duty, they will have an effect on their teams final placing, which is a potential YAY! for us considering the Steelers penchant for hanging round the WC slots and BOO! for week 15 as Romo & Dex will be back and given the rest of their division they'll probably still be in the hunt. The more important list is which QB gives the Jets the best chance to win; 1. Fitz 2. Geno 3. Petty So till Fitz does something boneheaded like 3 picks in 1 quarter or until they feel Petty is ready to play........thats how we stay.
Oh right on. I must have misinterpretted that. Either way, the only way Geno should start is due to injury or if the team starts collapsing and goes from 3-1 to like 3-6.
Based on the last 4 weeks..................Yes. I'm pro-Brees, He's been a hell of a QB and I hope that the current run is all down to injury and he's got a season or two left in the tank but my eyes, head and recollection of some of the parts of the Saints '14 season are telling me that we might not see the Drew Brees we all know and love on live TV again I was tempted to put Peyton on the list as moreso then Fitz he's had his D getting him those W's but then he's the only thing a number of us have that sheilds us from admitting that TB is the best QB of the generation. (tho we're now talking about Rodgers and in a decade or so we'll hopefully forget that their career arcs didn't exactly overlap)
Here's a new angle: the Texans went 6-6 with Fitzpatrick last year and they look like the worst team in the NFL without him. Hardly anything about their roster changed.
Until Fitzpatrick fumbles the ball while trying to switch hands behind his back these Geno supporters don't have a leg to stand on. So far Fitz has proven that he will certainly make his share of mistakes and poor throws, but he at least seems to have the ability to avoid turning them into momentum-killing, game-crushing plays. Experience and football IQ win over sheer physical ability every time.
Fitzpatrick is a bottom third starter at this point. Geno is bottom of the barrel. It's all relative. What we know about Fitzpatrick is that he can manage the game for the Jets and let the defense win it in the process. We know that the locker room is happy with him under center given the choices available. Until something changes there we're where we need to be on the field. Being realistic about the situation, both QB's can and will screw up more than a good QB will. We'll lose games we should have won with either of them out there. As long as that's not happening with Fitzpatrick, and it's not happening now, we're much better off with him in the game than taking a chance on making a change. If nothing else we've got the fans and players happier with the results than they've been in awhile. That's worth something and it's not to be lightly thrown away because if the Jets do experience the bad side of the equation at least we didn't do it too ourselves. If Fitzpatrick begins to falter we always have Geno as a reset button on the season. As soon as we make the change we've given up our mulligan for 2015 and if it doesn't work, well that's when the season is in trouble.
