I think many of us would like to see Geno in this offense with this coaching staff after sitting a few weeks to see how he does Fitz is doing just enough to win which is fine for now I'm fine with starting Fitz going forward as long as the coaching staff will be willing to see how Geno looks if he struggles Hopefully both QBs use this extra week to their advantage
Considering this is the first QB we've had since Pennington(sans Favre) who knows what the hell he's doing out there......I don't understand why anyone would want to watch the clueless QB and bench a 3-1 starter.
Fitz. Both give the risk risk of bad judgement, but with Fitz you get way more reward offensively. No need to fix what ain't broke.
We could very well have won our last game with Fitz under center. That being said, Fitz should be under center.
Nobody should mess with a winning formula... The qb play has not been pretty, but winning is the only thing that matters. Keep the train rolling. Fitzpatrick all the way.
At this point I say Fitzszs, I thought he should have been pulled after the bye if they just squeezed the win out with him sucking, but the more you look at the schedule each week, the weaker it looks. Probably just a matter of time before he gets injured, but he deserves the start now.
While Geno never stepped up and took the job in 2 seasons, Fitz himself hasn't been that good. His deep ball decision making scares me, it's not just that he has a weak arm, he throws balls into double and triple coverage like you said. I wouldn't turn things over to Geno because the team is winning and Fitz has been decent, but I wouldn't crown him as the starter for the entire season just yet.
It depends on the question. Right now Fitz is holding the fort, so if you're asking should Geno play over Fitz now, I say no. But long term it's Geno.
For those who care about advanced metrics, Fitz has graded out #27 out of 38 QB's this year according to PFF with a -4.5 overall grade. His first two games he graded out positively, his last two he's graded out negatively with yesterdays game in Miami being especially bad according to them which really effected his overall ranking. I believe he was in the top 15 before yesterday. PFF isn't to be trusted blindly, but it's just another take on performance.
I have a feeling Fitz will start to struggle as soon as we get to those bad weather games. I feel it's inevitable that Geno starts a few games this year. Hope I'm wrong, just because that would mean Fitz had a great year.
No argument here however, if Geno's resume had more shine than tarnish on it, there would be more Geno votes. I think Geno's performance so far is a huge factor in this poll. Granted, if the team were losing badly and by that I mean the mistake filled shit fest we've grown accustomed to, the poll would skew towards Geno. You could also make the case that if the Petty option were included in this poll, the numbers still wouldn't favor Geno.
Out of the guys on the active roster it has to be. Fitz will never be a long term solution for any team. He can't make all the throws an NFL QB needs to make. When the weather starts to get colder I think we'll see Fitz start to struggle a little more. He's not a bad QB, but he's limited back there. Geno has all the tools to be successful, unfortunately, he's just never put it together.
Fitz. You don't mess with a good thing. If he screws up bad for multiple games in a row, then you tighten the leash and give Geno a shot. Yet that scenario is a ways off based on the current 3-1 record.
Here's what I think what will happen: L against Redskins L against NE. 3-3 everyone calls for Geno. Geno Starts. W against Oakland W against Jacksonville W against Buffalo W against Miami L against Giants W against Tenn L against Dallas L against NE And with the playoffs on the line half the people want Geno to start, half want Fitzy. Bowles starts Geno L against Buffalo 7-9 record. Geno gets cut. Fitz starts next year. We still don't have our QB going forward. Life of a Jets fan.
