The first Quarter of the season is in the books. How would you grade the performance of the season so far for Head Coach Todd Bowles?
I gave Bowles an A because 3-1 for this team and talent is doing a great job. He had them prepared for London and the travel time problems, etc. Something Rex never seemed to do a good job with on west coast trips. Plus based on what we're hearing he has the respect of the players. That could change fast if the team starts losing. So it's a first quarter grade not a season long grade which could be a lot different. I don't expect the Jets to win 3/4 of their games this season. But so far the guy looks like a good HC. And he isn't full of shit like our previous one.
A. I have been really impressed with his attention to detail. He has made this team much more calm, focused, and professional. Have we had a false start penalty this season?
B+. TB has really turn the attitude around on this team. I like the play well or sit approach. He's really needs to take a hard look at the QB position and apply the same approach there.
A Guy is completely unflapable despite Geno and Richardson crisis as well as bad loss to Eagles. The Defense plays well and he is concerned with his O unlike predecessors Like Fitz, he commands the respect of the players He has that little grin all the time, that smug confidence he is showing up the critics, the press and sofa pundits
They've exceeded my expectations by 1 game. I'll say B. I agree with others, the ST play is a concern.
Like Todd for this: Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 20m20 minutes ago Jets blitzed Ryan Tannehill on 73 percent of his drop backs, per ESPN Stats & Info. A DB blitzed 22 times. 22!!
I like him. Went with A but it was really more of a B+ or A- scenario. Still has some things to work on (ST and penalties come to mind) but like everything else about him.
B+ Was handed a very talented roster but has clearly gotten the D to play at a high level, and the O to play well enough. On offense, he is more involved than Rex. He is still green with in-game management, and has not yet been forced to make a critical decision in a tight game late. We don't know how he will handle those situations. One slight negative was he did not have the team ready to play in the classic trap game against the Eagles, and a poor first half cost us that game. There are going to be some difficult decisions that will likely need to be made later in the season concerning the QB position but for now going with the veteran is the right move (while the team is winning). I am pleased with Bowles so far. He has the makings of a keeper.
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 6h6 hours ago How scary is Todd Bowles' defense? Jets have had 18 consecutive third-down stops
Todd Bowles is the best thing to happen to this organization in a long time. The Rex circus is opening the second ring up in Buffalo, with his victim complex rubbing off on the players already. Liek seriously, you really think the NFL is out to get the fucking Buffalo Bills? ahahah gtfo
I can't believe that anyone gave Bowles a D, much less two of you. Unbelievable! You two should be sentenced to have to watch Rich Kotite or Herm Edwards coached teams the rest of your lives. SMH Some of you guys are absurd in your comments. It's like you expect Bowles to be perfect and fix everything wrong with this team in 4 months. It's not only unrealistic, but borderline nuts. There were a TON of holes and problems on this team. Even with the great off season that Mac had, anyone that had a realistic view of things knew that all the holes weren't going to be able to be filled and all the problems fixed in one off season. There were no great QBs or punters out there to be had. Those are the facts. Bowles can't make players into something they're not and have never been if they don't have the talent or mental ability. Very few would have predicted the Jets would be 3-1 and this point in the season, yet here we are with posters ripping Bowles for the "Eagles disaster" and for Quigley and STs. Unreal.
I like Bowles a lot. He's been the best HC we've had since Parcells. The combination of him and Mac have been extraordinary. I give him a B or B+ because I think he's done a good job, but (x) special teams have been a problem and (y) he has got to get Fitz to stop throwing into double and triple coverage. He's done an amazing job with the defense (currently number 2 based on yardage and number 1 on points surrendered) and his staff has done a pretty good job with Oline, which has been a big concern.
