Is Cro easily cut-able after the season or does or with his contract does it make more sense to keep him?

Oh no Cro made one stupid mistake in a game where he played well otherwise!

    Best to cut him now.

While we are at it Mangold had a penalty, can't have that.

I guess we should cut Mangold to then.

Anyone critical of Cromartie needs to watch some video from last year's games and chill out.

Cromartie has also been drawing tougher assignments than Williams. I like what I see out of Williams so far but folks need to realize Cromartie is being tasked with a lot more than him. Naturally Williams would look better.

Luckily the contract is structured in a way that we can cut him after this season and he will count nothing against our cap.

Isn't he drawing the same assignment in most situations? Especially in that first game where Williams straight up replaced him and had Benjamin on lockdown after a pretty solid first half.

Are we all watching the same games?

The Dolphins offense had a total of 90 yards in the first three quarters. Ivory had more yards rushing than Miami's offense had in total. You don't think any of that had to do with Cromartie? Lol

Does Cromartie get burned sometimes, yes. Does he make mistakes, yes. But he's a solid #2 CB that makes our secondary as talented as it is. Tannehill didn't suck yesterday just because of the defensive line. Tannehill sucked because our defense as a whole shut him down and his receivers down. Cromartie was part of that.

Revis had Benjamin on lockdown in most of the second half of the Browns game but Williams did play well in relief.
Lets look at straight snap counts. Williams got like 5 in the Indy game and 3 in the Philly game. Cromartie got 100% of the snaps in the Colts game and similar in the Philly game.

Idk how many snaps Williams got yesterday but his INT was in a matchup with Jordan Cameron. Cromartie was out there 1 on 1 all game with receivers like Kenny Stills and Rishard Matthews... Miami goes O-for on 3rd and 4th downs with Cromartie matching up against those guys but Williams gets an INT while covering a TE and he's supposedly ready to take over Cromartie's job full time? he's ready to go from 3 or 5 snaps against TEs or WRs further down the depth chart to matching up 1 on 1 with teams' second WRs in the tough spot on the other side of Darrelle Revis? let's pump the brakes a little.

Cromartie has played a lot better recently anyway

Nobody is putting Cro down for his performance yesterday. But you can't keep a guy like Marcus on the bench the way he's been playing, it's not fair to him and the rest of the defense or this team as a whole. We don't know how good he can be or this defense would be with him in the lineup until we actually give him the shot he deserves. This is the 2nd game of the season he has closed out with an INT already and he's barely getting any snaps. Somewhere between 0-5 snaps per game, it's ridiculous. We know for the most part what Cro brings to the table, it's time to find out what Marcus can be here. We can always go back to Cro if Marcus isn't ready yet.

Marcus has been very good off the bench going back to last year.

Several Jet players have looked awesome off the bench (Wayne Fucking Hunter for one) only to win the starting job and for some reason morph into brown jello.

We have a really good situation right now. Revis/Crow/Skrine winning games, Marcus performing very well off the bench, and two more high draft picks on IR getting ready for next season.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    It ain't broke.

No. you cannot do that right now. If this team was eliminated and playing out the string or even just at the bottom of the standings or having troublesome defense - then yeah, I'm all on board with sitting a veteran and seeing what the young upstart can do. But this team is 3-1 now in a conference with a big drop off after the top 2 or 3 teams. You ride out your veterans as much as possible and see if you can't make a run at the playoffs.

ESPECIALLY when you are talking about a veteran CB on the presently #1 ranked Defense in the league (points allowed) & #2 (by a hair) ranked passing defense. Its ridiculous to have this conversation to me.

also- your post assumes Todd Bowles isn't watching the players closely everyday at practice. He might very well know what Cromartie AND Marcus Williams brings to the table

Exactly - when the defense becomes a problem we can look at fixing it. It ain't broken. It will be very interesting to see how the D fares against the Pats though. Brady has a habit of taking advantage of blitzing defenses, which we clearly have.

Wasn't he supposed to miss 2-4 games?

Havent heard an update on him since the injury happened and im wondering if he will even play this season.

Stop with this "whatever the headcoach decides must be the right thing" angle. Coaches make mistakes like that all the time. Go ask Talley how Bowles forcing him in the starting lineup for no reason over Douzable in camp and preseason worked out for him. He didn't even last the first wave of cuts, he's currently looking for a job. He should have never even been put in that situation in the first place. And in case you forgot, Marcus has been starting for us before, he more than held his own with ZERO help around him. No pass rush, no other capable DB who could cover. That was last year. He's improved MILES since then and now we have pass rush and tremendous cover guys all around him. He's a great tackler, he doesn't blow coverages, he doesn't miss tackles, he's not a penalty machine, he makes plays instead. And he's getting better each game. I'll take that any day of the week over what Cro brings to the table. You can talk up the numbers all you want, the tape doesn't lie. And the stats also don't mean that this defense couldn't have performed even better had Marcus been the corner opposite Revis instead from day 1. Cro has made a handful of terrible plays so far that Marcus would not have made. We know what Cro brings to the table. I'm not willing to wait for him to blow more coverages, to miss tackles, give up long touchdowns until we pull him for Marcus Williams. It's gonna happen, we all know it. Why wait for it to happen first? Cro I think has made ONE good play in coverage so far. Marcus with close to zero snaps per game already has two picks and 4 deflections. With no negative plays either. This team is not going to burn to the ground if Cro doesn't line up with the starters, we will be just fine, believe me.

you should stick with just recycling what other people say on twitter. It worked for an idiot like Florio, maybe it can work for you too.

HCs can make mistakes and play the wrong guys, I certainly understand that having been a fan of this team forever. However, this team has the #1 defense in points allowed presently so when referring to its defensive personnel decisions I'm going to give the coach the benefit of the doubt here. Crazy I know, trusting the leader of the number 1 defense over a social media boy

I expect Brady will have a good day against this defense. He has good days against everyone. But I don't think we need to change everything we do if/when he does have a good day against this defense. Luckily there are 14 other regular season games where the defense might be just fine

No need for personal attacks. If you can't explain the logic behind your thinking that's fine. Just don't expect other people to buy into your leap of faith thing.

I explained my fuckin logic dude in multiple posts. You only chose to read the one sentence where I said I trust Bowles on this. Its okay though- I understand with twitter you only are used to one sentence blurbs

Besides the real "leap of faith" is assuming a UDFA who gets 5 or 6 snaps a game is going to take over and look better than a pro bowl CB.

You didn't. Your whole logic is that Bowles knows what he's doing so that's what you trust. And by copy&pasting stats off the NFL page like that even means anything. Like we're ranked #1 now, let's ignore all the terrible plays Cro had, all the bigplays he gave up, the tackles he missed, the touchdowns he's given up, the penalties. Let's ignore all that, NFL.com says we're ranked #1 so that means none of those things happened, that means we can't do even better. I can assure you that

And no, it's not a leap of faith to actually look at how well Marcus has been playing and to give him more playing time and to expect him to play well. The two times he received more than 1 or 2 snaps per game (week 1 & week 4) he produced 2 interceptions and 4 pass deflections. Cro after 4 starts and being picked on is sitting currently at 0 picks and 2 deflections. I'm not even bringing up all the negative plays he had versus none from Marcus Williams. And once again, Marcus has started the entire 2nd half of the season last year. He looked great in camp, in preseason as well and he keeps getting better. Yet you chose to act like we don't know anything about him.

Spot on, I'm sick of people thinking that just because we have the names "Revis" and "Cromartie" on this team, that we will be able to hold NFL teams to less than 100 yards passing in every game...madden type numbers. Yeah Cro may get burned from time to time, but it is the plays that you don't even see him or hear his name called that gets him paid the big money. We have an elite D, and people bitch at Cro like he's a problem.

Wasn't he put on short-term IR, so he's not able to play the first 8 weeks/games of the season?
