The Texans and Buffalo had a cool little record at some point too. But, later in the season, during crucial games, Fitz was unreliable. It's foolish just to look at the Jets record and think there aren't changes that needs to be made. I'm getting tired of watching Fitz's wobbly passes. I'm not sure Geno is any better, but we should keep an open mind.
If we were winning but Geno was looking shaky for the 3rd year in a row a lot of people would be suggesting we bench him. That would be the 3rd year in a row thing alongside the "backup QB always looks better" argument. I don't know how I'd be sitting at that point. If Geno looked like total garbage I'd be in the bench him crowd. If not I'd be in the "we're 3-1, what kind of idiot do you think I am?" crowd.
They could've lost and they also could've blown the doors off with Geno making a few big plays in which Fitz is not capable of, which is also possible The goal is to win the Super Bowl not go 9-7
That would be expected and Fitz has looked shaky up to this point so it's not farfetched to ask the question. It's to be expected especially for a QB that hasn't done a lot their careers.
Everything....IF the game has slowed down for him a little and he starts to "get it" he has all of the physical attributes you're looking for I'm looking at the playoffs and beyond Every time people mention a soft schedule or whatever it just doesn't hold weight with me because I don't see a downside in replacing Fitz with Geno If Geno just doesn't get it and it looks like he never will, then just put Fitz back in for good and cut bait....but if Geno were to ever get it, it would be year 3 with a solid team everywhere around him...I just wanna see if there's a chance we got something
lmao, fair enough. Let's see how long your patience last with Fitz. Like I said, look back at his seasons with Buffalo and Texans. Jets might not be able to make the playoffs.
What about those 4-wins last season (and I believe one of them came from Vick playing)? And that was after Geno had one year of experience to improve on that 8-win rookie year.
I'm not a fan of Eugene but if we were 3-1 and he was playing the same as Fitz or even a tad worse then I'd keep him in. Frankly all I care about is the win-loss record and (short of our QB throwing 3 picks in the first quarter) as long as we stay above .500 and the QB is physically fit.....I stick with what is working.
Fitzpatrick hasn't looked shaky. That's a fiction. His QB rating is not great but the Jets are scoring points with him and getting some long drives in with him. They're winning games with him. He hasn't looked particularly good but nobody competing with him has looked particularly good in the NFL to date either and unless Fitzpatrick is the reason the Jets aren't winning games there's no point in making a change. If the Jets don't give up a long punt return for a TD and give the Eagles a very short field for another one on an unforced error they're probably 4-0 right now. How is Fitzpatrick the problem with this 3-1 Jets team?
Look I'm not playing this game....We have no idea how Geno will look with this team and in this situation I'm willing to roll the dice and see as opposed to sticking with a known limited journeyman It doesn't make either of us wrong it's just a matter of risk taking and tolerance
I didn't see much mental improvement from his rookie to his second year. Why should I believe the game has all of a sudden slown down for him? If it's only the mental aspect, then shouldn't he benefit more with some time on the bench?
I'm pretty sure if the coaching staff thought Geno brought more to the table at this point, he'd be starting.
You're dreaming if you're looking at the playoffs with Geno at QB. Maybe it's a nice dream that will come true but it's more likely to be a "more of the same" nightmare. We're all dreaming with Fitzpatrick at this point but the Jets are 3-1 and until he becomes the problem we're better off with that dream. The things that messed with the Jets today, the only things, were subpar coverage by Cromartie (again) and trouble on punt coverage (again.) If the Jets want to fix what's wrong with the team right now they should start thinking about putting Marcus Williams opposite Revis and figuring out how to fix the punt coverage team. Fitzpatrick is like a distant 4th or 5th maybe, behind fixing RG with Colon out and getting Enunwa to catch the damn ball when it hits him in the hands.
Cause you were hoping Geno could turn it around...Trust him to be better but he was on thin ice. Once he got his jaw broken, it was time for him to GTFO. No QB ever gets punched by a teammate...Its a sign that no one respects him.
Why do some people think a QB coming from an air raid offense in college would not improve going into year 3 with a better everything around him? That's the better question
