Some of the passes sucked and were poor decisions See ...no excuses Now what ? You think Geno can win more games? Sorry don't trust him
I think he can win just as many at the minimum with a small chance for greater things Basically not much downside...Fitz has been lucky on a lot of passes throwing into triple coverage. A few more of those don't go out way and I suspect all Jet fans will be calling for his head
Agreed. Some of these Geno fans are acting like the Jets are keeping some type of Andrew Luck type prospect on the bench. Geno's had two seasons and been unimpressive.
Fitzpatrick basically looks a lot like Chad looked after all the arm surgeries. He's a bit more mobile and he's not quite as accurate. If 2007 Chad had the protection that the OL has given Fitzpatrick this year the odds are pretty good he'd have been able to cobble together 3-1 at the quarter season point and probably kept his job all year. For those who really want to put Kellen Clemens in the game, just remember that we've seen 29 starts out of this Kellen Clemens and despite his better physical attributes we're really better off leaving the physically challenged vet as the default option until he forces our hand. That happened at 1-8 or something like that in 2007. We're 3-1. Who exactly wants to roll the dice on the next 4 games and see if Geno can beat those odds? If Fitzpatrick starts the next 5 games the Jets are going to be something like 7-2, maybe 6-3 at that point. If Geno starts them who knows where we'll be but 7-2 isn't one of the realistic options.
Don't play stupid, you were making excuses last week. I don't know what Geno would've done it's impossible to know because he hasn't played.
Well I think the Jets would be 1-3 or maybe 2-2 if they were starting Geno. Geno hasn't shown me anything to believe those pick-6 are going away. Fitz is nothing special but we've all seen games where Geno is just so bad that the entire roster can peak and it's still a loss. So far Fitz has shown us he can't carry the team if the running game & defense are off. That's a big improvement. What we think is a non-factor here. The fact is that the Jets are 3-1 with Fitz. Already within one game of last year's win total.
If you have the ability to know what our record would be with Geno then you should use those talents to possibly make yourself a billionaire....
The problem with this line of thought is that the Jets have scored 95 points now in 4 games. We probably left 20 points in the toilet if Aaron Rodgers was our QB, not if an average QB was our QB. We can't even find an average replacement for Fitzpatrick at this point, let alone a star caliber QB. And as in 3 of the 4 games this year Fitzpatrick was good enough to win the game, which is all that matters for this kind of team once it has become apparent that a good QB is not on the roster at the moment. The amazing thing is that people are bitching harder at 3-1 this year than they were at 1-3 last year. Makes you wonder what the agendas really are.
Jets were not losing the first 2 games with Geno...Jets defense got 5 turnovers in each game and generally shut down the offenses. We lost the Eagles game and a lot of it had to do with Fitzs poor throws We flat out dominated the Phins and the only reason it was close was because of penalties...again don't see why we would have lost with Geno under center today.. Jets are 3-1 because of a dominating defense, and very solid play from the rest of the offense Fitz has been along for the ride at best....He will be exposed against good teams
That's what you're not getting. Of course Fitz can be exposed when the Jets face good/elite teams. I know that and so do many of the Fitz supporters. However, I think Geno can be exposed by average or even below average teams. If the Jets can get a solid or better than average QB, then I would gladly get rid of both these QBs. However, there's nobody like that on this roster. I think Fitz ceiling is average starting QB. I'm not willing to throw away this season to see if Geno can elevate his game from league worst to mid-pack (which would be a huge improvement & one I don't think he's capable of pulling off)
What GM who wants to keep his job will take Eugene off the Jets hand? Where's idzik working again, Jacksonville? Maybe he can follow idzik there, but I just don't see anyone trading for Smith.
The bold is complete bullshit. To address the underlined there are agendas on both sides of the fence. I've let it be known that I preferred to see Geno play. But I never once implied that Fitz should be benched, and I agree with the general consensus that if we're winning and the QB play isn't THE reason why we're losing games then Fitz should remain the starter. But to sit there as if the people trashing Fitz and propping up Geno are the only ones with the agenda is dishonest. Let's not act as if these questions wouldn't loom if we were winning but Geno was looking shaky.
Geno has a much higher ceiling/potential and I'm willing to roll the dice to see how he looks with this offense and team in year 3....it's really that simple Yes he looked awful at times in his rookie and 2nd season with very limited weapons and a clueless offensive coaching staff at best Why are we sticking with a known journeyman who hasn't played well? I know the 3-1 record is nice and everything but damn
This is our next 7 games: Redskins @ Patriots @ Raiders Jaguars Bills @ Texans Fins With the exception of the Pats the Jets can beat all of those matchups with Fitzpatrick at QB. They'll probably lose a couple of games in there but our shot at relevance in the playoff race is real at this point. If you put Geno in you're rolling the dice because he can lose any game on that 7 game schedule singlehandedly. He could also give us some upside but that's a 50/50 thing at best. Really it's not 50/50 but we can pretend because we've only seen him start most of the last two seasons and despite the fact that the evidence is strong at this point maybe he's in the 10% of QB's who find themselves in their 3rd season. Me? I'll go with the good shot at 7-4 or 8-3 after 11 games. I'm just a masochist that way. I'll happily watch wounded ducks float into Marshall and Deckers hands and Ivory run wild for as long as he can before I'll give up on maybe being playoff relevant for the first time since 2011.
The Jets could've lost any of those 3 games they've won this season if their starting QB had thrown some pick-6 or fumbled it away multiple times. Why do you think Geno would play mistake-free football when he has yet to do that for an extended period of time at any point in his career?
He has a higher ceiling because his arm is stronger? What other aspects of his game do you see that tell you he has a higher ceiling.
