This needed to be said. Revis's play put Cro's mistakes on display, but he is not as bad as many say he is. Williams has just been showing really well when he gets the chance and deserves a shot. (I hate auto correct, is Regis even still alive?)
Cro is a flag machine, the guy get beat alot QBs are not afraid to throw at him at all Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Wow our secondary this year compared to last. Nice to have depth for once. And how nice is it to go from wilson in the slot to buster bust! Kid has been phenomal
Cro has coverage issues and had them two years ago the last time he was here. And that's why they didn't re-sign him. Revis can't cover the way he used to either. Top young receivers can beat him, too. But both guys provide leadership on the field that we didn't have last year. And this is a good part of the battle. So I guess Bowles and the staff will review film on him and Coleman to make a determination on who is the better cover corner. That pick was a good play but Marcus was lucky he wasn't called for a holding penalty because they were calling them all day. Maybe if they think Marcus has some skills over Cro they can use him over Cro in situational play. But for me in 2015 Cro is still the starter. Unless his play really deteriorates.
Cro will obviously be released after this year, his money is 100% guaranteed this year I believe and if we cut him next year there will be no dead weight on the cap. Obviously we need to increase Marcus Williams' playing time in the meantime though, as I have been rooting for the guy since last year. Skrine also looks like an amazing signing despite a lot of people hating on the move.
No reason why not to switch Cro for Williams at this point. Maybe the contract has incentives that are taken into account. As of right now, You would have to wonder if TB isn't thinking this same thing but doesn't want to "offend" Cro since we all know how sensitive he is.
Revis may not be Revis peak 2009-2010 type level, but he's still a very, very good shutdown corner. Top 3.
Best player has to take the field. Playing guys cuz of more expensive contracts or because of worrying about offending veterans has no place on this team. When we go against better teams, having Cro out there could end up being the difference between wins and losses. Good QBs will expose him. Signing Cro was overkill and have been saying that since day 1, but only thing worse would be playing him over a younger, better option. Ironically, that's what Rex did with Cro in '13 I wonder what Marcus Williams stat is for interceptions per plays on the field in 2015. Has to be among the highest in the league - I didn't see him on the field much today but he made his presence known fast.
I'd suggest moving Williams in more and more and the season progresses. Cro could certainly play good enough in certain situations. But I'd want our #2 on the depth chart to official be Marcus Williams.
