Having a collection of firearms isn't stockpiling them. A person who goes through a background check has a right to own them. These people are not going around and killing kids. Let's just tighten up the background checks so the nuts can't get them and not penalize the legit users. But many gun owners are against that. Including some in Roseburg, Oregon.

It's not "fear" of more rules and regulations, it's knowing of more rules and regulations. This has played out in many city and states around the country. And it is not as hard as you think to take all guns away, first it's "assault rifles", then handguns, than whatever is next on the list until they are all gone.
They areas that it is harder to get a gun, have the highest murder and crime rates. How that translates into more gun laws, or current gun laws working escapes me. But the argument is always...we haven't done enough.

That's just not the case. Gun owners have long argued the need to keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them. But we have a revolving door policy on many violent criminals, we have the ACLU arguing for the rights of nut jobs to not have their information shared... into the data base that could keep them from purchasing guns.

Look. What we have isn't working. There are 300 million guns in the US. And the homicide rates in the US are among the highest in the world. So it's time for a change. And this does not include taking people's guns away from them. Which isn't possible anyways. No one is even suggesting that.

people passing background checks ARE going out and killing kids. that's exactly what this fuck head did.

pclfan knows how to "tightem them up", so we got that going for us.

There's plenty of data on this. I'm not the expert that's for sure. But I know you can stop some of this senseless murder. For one you can't have people going to gun shows and sometimes on line buying guns without a background check. But I guess you're ok with the status quo.

    Nice deflection.

Let's get back to your earlier assertion.

Do you think law abiding citizens should not be able to own as many guns as they want?

I'm not happy with the status quo at all. you liberals have much blood on your hands with your gun free zones creating easy targets.

we've been over the fbi statistics that show gun crimes are very rarely committed with guns from gun shows. go ahead and fix that, it won't accomplish much but you are so fixated on it because, well, we all know that part.

You haven't suggested that, but many have, many in congress have.
I know you mean well, but I think you're just not well informed with what laws have been pushed in congress and in states over the last 20 years or so. Yes my friend, they do want them all, but they will settle for a few at a time.

I went to a gun show this morning, guess what? They were doing background checks. I'm not certain on every state, but I do believe it is a requirement at gun shows everywhere.

It could be but based on what I've read it's not covered. Maybe they were just being responsible. Most gun sellers are. I watched a good debate on Al Jazeera two days ago between a guy who works for the gun industry and a gun control advocate. These guys are both experts. And they were confused by much of the varying legislation in localities, the way federal and local laws are enforced, the courts, etc. You add this all up and you have a disorganized system which is basically what the NRA and gun manufacturers want. There is no way to stop all of these creeps. But if you do nothing or status quo you'll get what you have now. Mass killings on a regular basis. Time for a change. Let experts on both sides of the issue try to compromise and come up with a better system.

Do you realize how often you've expressed this exact sentiment?

I guess do nothing is your solution. As for gun shows you tossed out a stat a while ago that something like 2% of guns on the streets are via gun shows. (that was probably at the posting on this site after the last mass killing). Well that's 6 million guns. As for gun free zones, a typical NRA talking point.

    Love him. Fuck John Idzik.

"Hey guys, here's an article, it doesnt really support my position because I don't really understand it but I thought I'd post it anyway. But I'm no expert on the matter."

I couldn't enlighten you if I had a billion watt spotlight pointed in your face.

It's just funny how many times you've mentioned "there being stats" on something then begging off that you're "no expert".

Byz pegged you perfectly the other day.

Not even worth discussing with you because you're just looking to take it personal. But I've posted a lot on this subject and have given stats and articles. I'm learning and trying to read up about it. Anyone who says they know it all is just lying. Why don't you try and add something constructive for a change. Pegged you months ago.

Sorry, you don't get to just write it off as an "nra talking point" and be done with it. This is where these mass shootings happen all the time. That's a fact, not a talking point. The mass murderers love these soft target created by liberals who have the insane belief that it somehow makes people safer. The blood is on your hands, own it.

Put the fish in the barrel, watch them get shot up and then blame the guns. Makes perfect sense. The most retarded part is most don't even get that this is exactly what they're doing.
