Mental health assessments are 90 percent bullshit. We screen all pts and all they have to do is say the right things. The problem isn't mental health alone. There are plenty of mental health pts who would never think of killing anyone. This is a societal issue an American mindset. And I don't want to here the British or Australian bullshit line either. Totally different cultures and society. In this country we have a fundamental right to bare arms and that right, while yes shouldn't be extended to everyone no doubt we agree on that, shouldn't be hampered to the millions who follow the laws. a few problems here, 1. just like there are script drs that will write out percacet for a hang nail there will be drs pencil whipping the eval. 2. trying to hold the dr accountable to prevent said pencil whipping and no ones getting a gun, since no ones getting an eval,pretty sure drs are not going to want to be involved. also, who's paying for the eval?
