    Is his name Norman?

Schizophrenia has always been out there now its glorified on utube and the internet.

Seriously, we need to make Mental Health a field more on par with medicine so we can have more good providers available.

The problem isn't that we don't take it serious, sometimes it's just really difficult to tell if someone's insane or not. Think about it in this sense. You have someone who isn't really a medical person talking to someone for at max a few hours, then you have to make some life changing decision about them. How much can you really know about someone in an hour?

These shootings are getting more and more coverage and then you get copy cats. It gives people with this desire something to emulate. It's really a tough situation to deal with. There's nothing concrete unfortunately.

The gun just needs to be arrested. You have to make the gun face the music. I don't want other guns to be persecuted for the crimes of this gun. Gun fascism is far too prevalent in our society.

I have 7 guns in my family and it's not fair that the media is allowed to make them feel uncomfortable when I take them to the gun range. They shouldn't have to feel self-conscious whenever they are used to shoot targets in a responsible fashion.

Get the bad guns. Leave the good guns alone.

From what I read, he asked what religion you were.. Christian got you a bullet in the head, any other religion got a bullet in the leg. Guess if you have a cause and a gun, you can pretty much make yourself famous.

Oh well, just another mass school shooting. Nothing new here.. Move along..

It's not an individual one on one thing. Just because you're ok and know how to handle a gun or 7 of them responsibly doesn't mean others do or will. We're talking 300 million people and 300 million guns. What you try to do is keep guns away from the insane and the bad guys. And for that there has to be better rules and background checks, coordination and cooperation between different jurisdictions to at least make it not so easy to get a firearm. btw it is a proven fact that more guns = more homicides.

Let keep it in perspective too. We have gang related homicides which are not the same as this. They account for a large chuck of those numbers. Bottom line is who really cares when gangs kill gangs and don't involve innocents.

This guy would have found another vehicle to carry out his attack. A bomb, probably which btw are rather easy to make and you can buy all you need at a local Walmart.

What about the lady in jersey that was killed by her ex because they refused to expedite her background check for a gun after he openly threatened her and vow to kill her in court?

Do you make her wait longer while this guy already has a weapon?

    This has to be said.

And I'm going to say this once, and hope it resonates with you, because I don't care enough about internet arguments anymore to continue such a conversation, but I have heard enough from a very many people here and I've been here since close to the beginning.

Your arguments are garbage, and you don't seem to realize it. I'm not attacking your views on guns, or even politics. Or even football.

I'm talking about you as a person portraying their opinion on the internet, about anything. Every single thing I have ever read from you about anything... sucks.

All of your opinions, all of your approaches to any argument, even your random meanderings, they seem completely constructed to oppose an intelligent argument and are normally without any sort of intelligent design.

I'm getting to an age where I'd like to be positive about the essence of people, so I'm trying to be nice here. I'd like to believe that you aren't just some fat slob asshole trying to troll people.

But so far, I'm just not seeing it. Sorry if I have you wrong, I'm just not seeing it.

Please give me some hope for the common man.

Train & arm teachers. Make it an additional salary incentive. Pick & choose wisely with psyco evaluations who is able to participate. Take down the foolish "gun free zone" signs. This shit will go away after a few nuts get smoked real quick by a teacher packing heat.

    What we're doing ain't working. That's a fact Jack.

I really wish they'd do away with gun free zones. They have yet to accomplish anything.

Perception is reality right? It's too easy for people to get firearms in this country, and while you maybe a good person with good intentions - the kid we saw today did not, nor did the person that shot up that church. I think getting a gun should require a psychological evaluation. It's a start.

I couldn't agree more. Taking guns or making harder to get only takes them away from people who don't have malicious intent. Criminals and others still find a way to get them.

The real thing we need to examine is the American psyche. Is this what leads to these types of acts? Affluence, arrogance, and entitlement? Why is it that these mass shootings of innocence are prevalent in developed countries more? Key word being innocence.

Wouldn't the teachers be sitting ducks then. If a shooter comes into a classroom. Why not in each building (and in large classrooms) an experienced gun person designated to carry. Someone who's had training. And multiple background checks. And not identifiable. Or even campus Security (under cover, no uniforms). The same for other public places and private ones (like churches).

And who does that help? You think because this guy doesn't get a gun nobody gets hurt?

I don't agree with you on this. With any rule there will be something that falls through the cracks. But overall legit applicants for guns will have no problems except maybe a day or two delay. If things had run smoother in Charleston that kid wouldn't have been able to purchase that gun. As I recall the period mandated for having to sell a gun had expired and even though there were red flags on this kid they had to sell it to him. Instead they should have double or triple checked on this guy and maybe he wouldn't have been able to buy the weapon he purchased. I don't understand the resistance to better and universal background checks. Because good guys can still easily buy guns.

Every innocent kid that attends a school. Even if it's a small percentage - I think it could help in some way. If he doesn't obtain a gun, how do you think the guy kills 10 students?
