Ha ha ha, very funny. I just don't follow other teams any longer. I don't have the time. Maybe when my son is older, but right now I barely follow the Jets. It's one of the main reasons why I like this forum. It is a nice way to get news quickly and write the odd message. Still, it is a bummer about Urlacher. I went to his Wikipedia entry. And apparently there was discussion about him possibly playing in 2013 but the Bears ended up not signing him and he retired. I thought he had come back in some capacity. Sounds like it wasn't a happy ending either, which is a shame for a player of his caliber. Well, since everyone here knows more about this situation than I do, does anyone know why he chose to retire and not return? He had an Achilles injury, but he was playing at a very high level before this. Achilles injuries suck, but he should've been able to return or catch on with another team, but I can't find anything about why he retired instead of tried to catch on elsewhere?
Id like us to take a good look at Bennett. Would fill a huge hole this team has. Wouldn't mind bringing Slauson back either just not big Vlad.
Gayle Sayers would be a huge upgrade over Bilal Powell backing up Ivory. He's probably not good enough to start though.
I hear ya, but I'm not big on trading away assets for receivers. It is simply too easy to find really good receivers in the draft (They really are "a dime a dozen"). Our problem wasn't that we couldn't find them, it's that we weren't bothering them to draft them in impact rounds (1-4). In other words, we weren't trying to find them. (I mean Stephen Hill aside, when was the last time - before Devin Smith - that we went for a legit, day 1 prospect at receiver?)
I mean, Jeffrey is gonna be an FA next year, if the Bears had the intent on trading him, that would mean they probably don't have the intent on re-singing him. Trading away picks for him to get him now isn't really necessary unless we truly think this is our year/adding him will make it "our year." Let's face it, adding Jeffrey to the WR mix will be a nice addition, but won't fix the true problems that will continue to hurt us this season. I would rater save the picks, let the season ride, and see if we can sign the guy in the off season. Tl;dr? Trading for Jeffrey now won't work because we are not one good receiver away from winning it all, might as well wait.
I love Jeffrey but Martellus Bennett make a lot of sense.....We have a huge hole there, and it's obvious to everyone Not sure why the Jets didn't address this at all when Amaro was confirmed out for the year....Cumberland is a stiff and any other tight end we have is just a body
Speaking of Madden, I have Bennett on my Madden Ultimate team. We should get him, he's cash. In all reality he seems like a tradeable player if they're going to blow up the entire team as he only has one year left on his deal. An NFL team has never really had a firesale because you can't truly rebuild a roster over a 4-5 year period with the high turnover rate of players via injuries and free agency and how quickly certain positions run out of steam because of age. It'd be fun to see the Bears try and go completely defeated. Imagine how mad it would make Cutler considering he's stuck there with that contract. What could've been with that offense of giants the past couple years only to see them hamstrung by a struggling quarterback. Imagine they left McCown in and legitimately made a run despite a pile of dogshit defense. That franchise could be the Jags of the NFC for a while now.
