Fitz and Gailey are equally to blame for this. The Eagles have a very aggresive defense and the Jets' one-dimensional play-calling fed right into it. Way too many one-look and dump plays. You need to be able to adjust and call plays that allow for more than one read. There were receivers getting wide open all over the place, but Fitz determined before the snap where he would throw it. If it was covered, he threw to the safety-valve. How much of that was due to play-calling, we don't know. But Geno would have been much more effective against this defense. Especially with the threat of his running.
Not like we didn't have our starting RB and 2nd WR or anything, right? You would think after only 2 teams going 16-0 in the history of the NFL fans wouldn't always expect that year after year.
Probably the best QB we have ever had was Ken O'Brien, and unless you're a Jet fan, your response is "who?" Even Namath only had a mediocre career and would largely have been forgotten had the Jets lost SBIII. Pennington could have been great had he not torn or broke something every time someone breathed on him. I'm hoping Bryce Petty is something special, but by now, I've given up hope.
Eh… the scheme and play calling wasn't the problem so much as the execution. bad drops(thats on the receivers), poor deep ball passes on otherwise god play calls (thats on Fitz), playing catchup thanks to Sproles and Marshalls overeager non-sense. still really like Chan Gailey.
The OC isn't making the awful throws down the field, and the OC isn't the one trying to make a dumb-ass lateral on the field. Have some sense, the real killer was the PR for the TD. I thought the game-plan was good, but the Jets PLAYERS couldn't execute. That's who you should blame.
I never expect to go 16-0. But I do expect to win against an injured, lackluster team like the Eagles.
This stupid fucking idiot should have just paid the 600 dollars. Fucking tool. BU BU FITZ GRADUATED FROM HARVARD HES WICKED SMAHT HE CAN READ A DEFENSE AND EVEN THROW DOWNFIELDDDD!!!
Sadly with Winters in there the OL takes a gigantic step back, still no idea why he was kept over Aboushi. I always thought Oday was the better of the 2
5-11, I'm calling it. 1-5 in the AFC East (they lose the first one to the Bills, then Rex gets cocky and doesn't plan for the 2nd game) 0-4 against the NFC East 4-2 against the rest of the AFC.
No way am i confident going up against the Phins they should be 4-0, their defense is scary I live in Miami and forced to watch this team every sunday so I Bowles gets this team ready or else 2-2 it is
Missing our 2 & 3 WRs, No Powell and our D got a late start BUT we were still in the game till the last minute. The Eagles weren't that much better but the Sproles return was the real killer. Once we get Decker, Enuwa and Powell back, get Devin some more playing time and ofc the return of Sheldon......I think we'll still be there at the end of the season.
I would not put this game on gailey what so ever. Punt return put us behind by ten points and then marshall decides to play ncaa and tried to make a bonehead pitch and before you know it we are down 17-0
true but we sucked blocking screens well before colon went out. he hasn't been very good this season anyway
He was better than he had been. Omg he was a disaster last season. Regardless tho you're right we are terrible screen team Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
The Eagles offense was questionable too. 42-6 next week. Gailey is again going to piss himself and play pass, dump, punt all game long against the Phins defense, our D is going to play relatively well, but again going to tire from the constant 3 and outs and then just collapse at the end.
