Decker and Ivory maybe. Probably. But if we're missing Revis it's gonna be a long day. I have zero faith in Cro being able to have a clean game as our #1 corner. We're gonna get by with Powell and Stacy at RB and Owusu/Enunwa/Kerley/Devin at WR. But corner will be an issue.
Coulda sworn i already heard that Revis will be man'd up on Matthews... which leaves them with almost nothing left... maybe Sproles lil fast ass gets his way vs that heavy blitz with some screens and sweeps but that's about it.
I think it would be nice if we had a legit TE on this team. It would make us much harder to defend. Ivory should sit and heal up, its a long season and we don't want him making the injury worse. Get Zach and bilal in there, they can get it done. Sproles is a bitch to defend but he's getting older and we are getting the best safety play we have had in twenty years. My concern is at olb where we are big but slow and the effects of the hurry up on them.
Chan Gailey doesn't use TE's as receivers though. He uses Decker or Marshall basically as the TE in the spread.. which i will take all day.. gives us more versatility... Decker was in there as the slot or near the LOS almost as a TE and he was wide open all day on Monday.. granted there were good corners in Indy... the way Chan moved our guys set up A lot of Decker vs OLB mismatches. Since chan has been calling plays he was ranked by far 32nd in TE usage and by far 1st in 3 and 4 WR spreads. I believe our TE's have a total of 3 targets this season so far lol.
True, but talent is still talent. Having a legit target at TE would make this offense look even better. Also, maybe Chan's teams in the past never had a good TE, which is why he never really utilized them. If the Jets had a Gronk type player at TE, Chan wouldn't utilize him? Lol.
Jets fans always remember the points we left on the field ("We should have won by 30!!!1!!1"), but when teams fumble on our goal line (BOTH weeks), it's like it never happened. smh. The Colts missed a field goal that I would have made 7 times out of ten, and Gore forgot the football on our doorstep. Those were CLEARLY the two biggest missed scoring opportunities of the game. We've looked extremely dangerous and disruptive on D, but we're running way ahead of expected value when it comes to points against. Every fumble has bounced into our hands, and our awesome run D from week 1 got gashed several times against IND. I just hope the players aren't as giddy as some of the fans. Lots of work to be done.
Gore and Luck rushed for only 81 yards on 19 carries. I wouldn't consider that being gashed several times. Although the Browns had less rushing yards their average was higher. The problems is the QB's rushing for too many yards. An area I'm not worried about against the Eagles.
The Eagles O line has been atrocious so far so the run game shouldn't even be a factor for them against our D line. The scary thing is Sproules with the screen game. The guy is scary when he gets the screen game going so I hope Bowles and Kacy are prepping for it.
Week 1 designed rushes against: just FIVE attempts netted more than a single yard all game. ZERO rushes for 10 yards. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20150...p3000000529349&tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay Week 2 designed rushes against: 7 attempts netted at least 8 yards. Four went for 10-plus, two for 18, and an additional 11-yard run was negated by penalty. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20150...p3000000536372&tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay In conclusion: week 1, gashless. week 2, gashes.
No Ivory Decker and Revis has me worried... i don't think were winning without them.. and if we do.. it's not in the same fashion as the first two games.. (which wouldn't bother me but i'm much more comfortable with Revis out there, and Decker on O.. i can live without ivory for a week or 2)
a healthy hilton is as good as matthews. hilton wasnt healthy benjamin? no. he barely even plays. then put him in the game for 10 snaps and tell him to run 9 routes. he had a couple big plays, thats it. he isnt even an every down player.
matthews has had drops. he has also made a ton of big plays. he has been their only player do do anything so far this season. every WR has drops, espeically on off target passes. best WR group we have seen so far, by a large margin. not to mention sproles.
the jets cant afford to sit those guys against anyone and expect to win. as is, at full strength we shouldnt expect to beat anyone..
matthews lines up exclusively in the slot. id be suprised to see revis on him the entire game. and if he is, i see us giving up big plays on the outside
Why would you be surprised to see Revis follow a guy into the slot all game? He's done this in the past.
