He's so soft-spoken. The only guy I can think of who took up less ego space in interviews and press conferences is Tony Dungy. But behind that you can tell there's some steel, just like with Dungy.
Something about the way Bowles talk makes me feel relaxed, and want to lie on a hammock. Pretty refreshing.
Love the guy so far. Does anybody else get a Bubba vibe from him? Just waiting for him to go off on some shrimp tangent at any time.
Yep thought the same thing...and this article pretty much proves it...great read... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/13/s...ifetime-of-calmly-facing-challenges.html?_r=0 This is the best quote on the article...“He will not panic, I’ll tell you. He has a plan for everything, believe me.”... Like Barry Sanders or Curtis Martin...guys who epitomize the best of humanity both on the field and more importantly outside the field...rare gems...
Maybe just once Rexy should have kept his mouth shut and concentrated on stopping Gronk. You have to figure though that the NY Media is absolutely hating the "Bowles effect". Hence, we get Ryan news almost as if he never left.
It doesn't matter what he does against the Pats in the regular season. The Jets could lose both games to the Pats, still go 13-2 and have a first round bye. Rex was something like 4-9 against the Pats, he had one win that meant something, in the 2010 playoffs. He's overrated, he's a good defensive coordinator but the Pats put up 40 points on the road against his D AT HOME in Buffalo! Bowles is probably good, a little early to say for sure, but he's far better than Rex. Ron
Bowles will never be better than rex unless or until he gets us past the AFC championship game and into the superbowl. and he won't even have to do it fuckin sanchez.
That was exactly the first thought I had during his intro presser. The best part is that even while I'm thinking about shrimp gumbo, he comes out with some really intelligent stuff in his own extremely laid back manner. He definitely doesn't sound like he's from Elizabeth.
I'd like Bowles to recite the Forrest Gump line..."Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get." Sounds like something he'd say.
Great point. Hey...I have to throw this out there because I WILL BE....ME...the number 1 culprit. I love the guy...I love his relaxed nature compared to the crazy nut we had before him. With that said....when and if the jets lose...I would probably be the first hypocrite to blast him for being too calm with losses. Just figured I would expose myself now in an effort to control myself when it happens.
This guy can handle Ls. He's been around a long time and has seen it all including a SBW as a player. And he was Interim HC with the Fins and Interim DC with the Eagles after they fired Juan Castillo in 2012 and during a very tough season (it got Andy Reid fired).
I love rex but Bowles is a better head coach, yes after only two games I am saying this. I truly belive Bowles is the next big time head coach that will be mentioned along side the great head coaches in the NFL like Tomlin, McCarthy(I think he might actually be over rated with having the best qb), Harborough, ect. I think he will be our head coach for a long time.
2009 Jets were better than what Rex has this year. Prime Revis and Jenkins together on the field were unstoppable. Hell, the 2015 Jets D will likely turn out better than the Bills this season.
Let's hope so if the team keeps winning and playing well. That would give the Jets something they've never had in the history of their franchise...long term stability.
