i'm in the dark here as i dont know the goings on of the board, but it seems Truth has been yanked from the game in the 7th inning and
a relief pitcher has been brought in, and hes getting pasted too!

What exactly do you mean by selectively. To the best of my knowledge Francis has never claimed to have such powers. And in 2013 when asked if he had one wish he said it would be to heal children.

Holy crap! The Jets win two games and even the tangential boards get full of self righteous analysts of the state of the world and small town martyrs.

Get to the playoffs and we might be able to find Judge Crater and Jimmy Hoffa.

A Super Bowl win all but guarantees a cure for cancer and world peace forever.

    Bring it!

Unlike you, never been banned or scolded by the Mods because I don't derail threads or use this site to ridicule others. Also never complained to them personally about other posters including Junc. Now can you honestly say that. Or had any off the board conversations with any of them or other posters. But a mistake to go on this crazy Religion thread not because of the subject matter but where you and your followers have taken it. The title says "Respectful" and you're anything but that. You can have the last word because I'm tired of talking to you. And basically in defending myself I'm helping to derail the thread. You never did say one thing about the subject matter which is the Pope and his right to publicize his opinions on world events.

Watching the continuous coverage of the Pope's visit on CNN, I feel inspired to comment on it.

The commentary is very interesting, and enlightening. Pope Francis is emphasizing unity and mercy, and it's closer to the message of Christ Himself than the image of the Church held by some. Unity in that the Church is Catholic, meaning Universal, for all of humanity, because it was instituted by God Himself in the person of Christ, and Christ told His apostles to spread the Good News to all corners of the earth. Mercy because we are all sinners, and we are all on a journey of self-improvement and genuine self-actualization, meaning becoming the best version of ourselves, our most authentic selves. Sin gets us sidetracked, and undermines our efforts to be all that we can be. Holiness and Happiness are really one in the same, when properly understood. (happiness not to be confused with pleasure). Happiness refers to lasting peace and joy, while pleasure refers to momentary physical pleasures that are fleeting, that don't last.

God wants us all to find our way to His life of inner peace, joy, and personal fulfillment. He wants us to be most happy in this life and in the next. Those who are searching will eventually find their way to the truth. Those who are honestly trying, but struggling, will find their way. Those who don't yet know the truth, but are doing their best to live a good life, will find their way. ..... on the other hand, those who are moving in the other direction, away from God, may be in trouble. Those who have been taught the way, but have arrogantly rejected it, deciding they can do it their way, may be in trouble. Those who think they are holier than thou, like the pharisees in the Bible, but who seclude themselves from people in need, or from those they consider sinners, may be in trouble. I say MAY in all those instances because God continually does all He can to help bring us to where we need to be, but he will never force us, or interfere with our free will.

Pope Francis will, of course, uphold the unchanging truths of the Church, which are for our own good. But his approach is one of understanding and mercy, allowing all of us sinners (myself included, of course) to make mistakes but to learn from them, and to try and do our best. Self-improvement, one step at a time, our lives getting better and better. And all of us struggling sinners, working on self-improvement, gather in communion at Mass, a joyful celebration of the hope we have in Christ Jesus' saving work. Jesus "purchased" salvation, eternal life, for us through His cross and resurrection. He paved the way for eternal life for all of us, though we are still sinners. All we have to do is accept our own cross, the struggles we face in our own lives, learn from our mistakes, grow and improve our lives little by little, helped along by God's grace and the Holy Spirit, on our journey toward the joy of eternal life!
