Calvin Pryor can play FS just fine. Sure, his skillset is probably better tuned for a SS but Bowles has been playing him at FS most of the time if you look at the snap count. The big difference is we actually have corners and safeties around Pryor, who was asked to do way more than a rookie could reasonably shoulder. That's because Idzik screwed the pooch on our cornerback situation. I'm glad we took Pryor over Cooks, Benjamin, etc. though so I've always been in the minority.
no. their division is a joke. they will pile up wins against the weak sisters and beat some other mediocre teams
When guys like Frank Gore are running it up the gut with no problem, Pryor needs to be put in the box more. I like that he can cover in a pinch, but certainly don't want him out there more than 50% of the time in coverage,
Kid has a big forehead meant for hurting ppl. No doubt this is one of our toughest players, always delivering the hit. Our Defense is just beastly, all teeth. We will hurt a lot of teams (Edelman over the middle, not smart play against us). Early prediction... Pryor crushes Edelman (just waiting for that hit).
Disagree its not all coaching. When you are tackling someone, if you have confidence and faith in your Offense and the rest of your defense you can take risks and go for the ball. If you miss and they get extra yards you know the team has your back. There is a direct correlation between turnovers and a good team at least partially because they have the confidence to go for forcing turnovers. This team finally has some swagger. We are going to be a turnover machine. Also having the other team afraid they are going to turn it over probably makes them more prone to turn it over! They can't win.
i think bowles has put him in a position to d what he does best. playing less in coverage. more in a playmaking role
Haha. No even close to. I bleed green bud. But you like many others see 2 decent performances and automatically anoint a player a "beast" or a "monster". Take a breath and realize 2 games does not dictate a 16 game season. We can be encouraged by a players development and performance over these two games but let's not make him into the second coming of Ronnie Lott just yet. This seems to be a generational issue more than anything. Patience my young grasshopper...
DON'T SAY THAT! Last time a Jet player knocked out a starting Pats QB the damn Pats turned around and got themselves a young, HoF caliber QB. Now that Brady is finally getting old do we really want to repeat this awful cycle?!? And now that I think about it, where is Mo Lewis nowadays? Dude should be on the Pats payroll...
Like I said. The possibility of an injury resulting in another future hall of fame QB is near impossible. I'll take the risk. Get it done, Pryor.
I love this "year" evaluation off of 2 games.....Jets fans are def in first place for overreacting to just about everything good or bad.Should we induct him into the hall of fame and have him retire on top or can he finish the season first ?
funny how the whole true position meme starts up again when he's apparently played free as much as he's played strong. maybe its not a matter of which safety spot he's better at as it is utilizing him in a versatile role depending on opponent and in-game circumstance… also don't wish injury on other players guys, its just an over-glorified game of keep away for gods sake...
