Thanks for the link. Who is the doooosch with the Geno hard on? What is so hard to understand that he is now officially the back up?
Bowles is rock solid, a no nonsense football guy. He fields the best 53 players week in and week out, he displays no favoritism, he can adjust his game plan on the fly. He does his talking at game time. The NY media knows that the days of inflammatory quotes, bravado statements and media happy ammunition for fod reporting are way gone.
I doubt anyone has a hard on for Geno, it's just that QB Controversy is the easiest subject for an idiot beat writer to think of.
Devin Smith would have suited up long ago if he was healthy. If he is or isn't this will have no effect on it.
He is fully, 100% healthy and was before the Colts game, according to Bowles. The factor limiting him is conditioning in addition to knowledge of the playbook. Now that they lost the speed component Owusu brings I think they're more likely to use Smith even if he's not fully up to speed on the offense. They could use him even as a go route specialist.
It will only be well coached if we get to the AFCC this year and next, otherwise it won't be as good as Rex did before they decimated the team underneath him.
Not trashing Bowles who I like very much, but keep in mind that we did bring in Revis, Cro, Skrine, Gilchrist, Marshall, Carpenter, and Fitz. Makes the coaching job a little bit easier. It's not like he's doing more with the same personnel.
The New York Media spends a lot of time obsessing about failed past QB's. Bowles gets asked about Geno too much and Chip Kelly spends a whole call talking about Sanchez. Makes you wonder what goes through the minds of the average beat reporter in the fish tank full of piranhas they live in. Anywhere else the backup QB is the backup QB and nobody questions that unless the starter is struggling with performance or injuries. Anywhere else the out of town backup QB that last played for the Jets in the 2012 season never gets mentioned at all. Here they're the two main topics of conversation the week before a game the Jets will probably win to go 3-0. Agenda?
You can blame that fat, loudmouth Rex Ryan for creating a MASSIVE circus with the NY Jets. It might take us a while to shed the label of being the circus.
whatever that means. anyways, I don't think there's any doubt that if Bowles takes the Jets to the playoffs, he's a top contender for Coach of the Year honors.
