We're seeing a lot of bad signs all coming at one time. On offense and the pitching staff. For a while now Familia has been pitching poorly and giving up hits but usually getting out of a jam he creates. He's probably tired, too. On offense they again are just not putting together hits and they strand runners in scoring position.
What a disgraceful performance from these guys in this home stand. This team is terrible right now. Doesn't look like the Mets are going to choke the playoffs away, but it won't be for lack of effort. They are just lucky the Nats are just as inept as they are. Maybe they can make the playoffs without winning another game,
It wasn't disgraceful because Colon pitched a good game and the pen blew it. When we left guys on base the writing was on the wall. I don't look forward to playing the Reds and facing Votto and their other big hitters. They could take apart our pitching staff. They're much tougher than Atlanta.
The Mets have been playing like shit ever since Scott Boras opened his fucking mouth....... Losing a series to the woeful Braves!!!!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!
Honestly I'm ok with them losing now, maybe this is exactly what they need. Then maybe they'll get hot again once the playoffs start. No more bullshit skipping starts, no innings limits hanging over certain guys and a group of hungry guys
It was disgraceful to me because they just lost back 2 back games to the Braves. Not to mention look how the Dodgers have been playing. I guess home field advantage isn't important is a team who apparently can't win at home. I'm just annoyed that I'm suppose to be in a happy place with them, but here they have me all frustrated. They are trying to clinch the playoffs and they just lost 6 of 8.
You're right even though we have a history of losing to the Braves (even though this Braves team has been gutted) and Freddy Freeman is an All Star player. This team and esp Cespedes will have to hit against the Reds or there could be problems. Hopefully the Nats will lose 5 games and we'll back in. And then snap out of this slump and get in into third gear again for the playoffs. If so we have a chance. But the key element is pitching.
Does anyone still want to open the playoffs at home? Im thinking starting away from Citi Field might be a positive. Kershaw and Greinke anywhere will be tough but for some reason this team just doesnt play very well at home. Especially in big games.
We're trying, but the Nats won't let us choke this one away. I can't stand this bullshit with skipping starts and 5 innings from Verrett, etc. Are we trying to win or what??!?
The biggest problem is Thor. The guy sucks on the road. Harvey catch pitch twice if we are really trying to save his arm so he is most likely going to pitch game 3 at home which leaves Thor for game 2 at LA.
If we start at home I think Harvey would be a good bet for Game 3 in LA..one the road I see him in Game 3. Even though Noah did pitch well out there earlier in the year it wouldnt be likely for him to start there in the postseason. deGrom is Game 1 either way IMO. Matz most likely a Game 4.
Agreed on game and 1 and 4. It's just a matter of where Harvey and Thor line up. Magic number is 3!!!!!
As little as I trust this team to open the series with a strong home performance, I would trust them even less in a potential Game 5 at Citi. There just seems to be less pressure on the road.
I'm not saying anything until we clinch. Or thinking about a pitching rotation for the playoffs. We'll talk about that later!
