This guy is a completely different player this year man. 2015 (Through 2 Games): 15 Tackles 1 Forced Fumble 1 Interception 1 Pass Defended To give a comparison, in 2014: 61 Tackles 0 Forced Fumbles 0 Interceptions 2 Passes Defended
"Seek and destroy" so far this season. Extremely impressive. And not the punk "enforcer" Rex painted him & likely wanted him to be.
Still missed multiple easy tackles last night. Gotta work on that. Can't stand watching a player fly passed a ball carrier without touching him. On that note, he's definitely reading plays better and putting himself in a position to make plays.
He was also the one who pried the ball out of Frank Gore on the goal line but he was ruled down by contact just before it came out. Would have been 2 goal line fumbles forced in 2 games. Game changing plays.
I've noticed every player on defense seems to be attacking the football, which has to be contributing to these fumbles and turnovers we are getting. And that's all coaching.
Based on the former statistics, the positive statistical increase reflects a direct correlation to Pryor now playing in his natural position; also reacting to the plays instead of thinking about the plays.
I thought he was awesome in the first week, and good in the second, having a good season thus far, but 2 games is a very small sample size so will wait and see.
Can we stop with this? In Week 1, Pryor played more often outside the box than in the box, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The numbers: 34 snaps at free safety, 20 snaps at strong safety/linebacker. The ratio is more balanced than his rookie year, but it's not like he's been transformed into an every-down "box" safety. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-je...-diva-receiver-a-bad-rap-for-brandon-marshall I don't have the breakdowns for week 2 yet but he was playing free safety when he hauled in the interception.
He's playing with drastically better corners. He's no longer a rookie. He's a first round draft pick. He better be better.
Man i been trying to convince people that this kid is a problem. He was obviously out of position last year.. everybody comparing him to Haha ... but he's not a cover safety! he's not even a free safety! kid is a run supporting SS... roam and zone in the box.. that's where you get the bang for your buck with this kid. HIm and Mauldin play with that same high motor too.. must be a Louisville thing.
I really do love Jets fans. We could be the most bipolar fan base in the NFL. I'm tired of "he's a beast" " he's a monster" threads. It's week two guys. I'm excited, I'm optimistic, and it's awasome for me to have the team I'm most passionate about 2-0. But, it's 2 games. Two opponents that will likely be drafting in the top 12 next year. Not trying to to be a downer but...lets curb the "monster" "beast" threads till we see consistent production. 2 games... Let's see what we do against NE, Buf, and Mia. Our schedule actually looks very easy through two weeks. I'm excited too but we haven't won a god damn thing yet
What's the worst that could happen? Replacing one of the greatest of all time with another one of the greatest of all time?
